hey dragon claw I'd like to give your texture map a whirl but your layout is a little too bunched up. If its ok, can I request a more spacious, white background, black outlined sketch? and have two triangles for the top and bottom caps separately?

yes. Give me a few minutes and I'll upload another map. I actually have bmp's that are very sharp but I don't think I can upload them. I'll redo the uv's for it and upload it again to share cg.

HERE IT IS!

Something like this perhaps ? the nif format is wrong for skyrim, needs to be version 20.2.0.7 and you need to assign the texture set. I don't have these skills.

here is a link to the texture [dds], normal map [_n.dds} and a png for this texture.

That's a pretty awesome base-map for a metal texture! It just needs a few details for the model, maybe some burning around the edges. I'd be proud to work with you on this project if you're interested. Any other takers? Plenty of room!

Apparently I'm using the wrong version of nifscope or something. I'll need to find a way to export as 20.2.0.7 (anyone have any leads?) Hopefully workflow will be faster once the Steam Workshop [skyrim] goes live.

I think this proposition needs to be a little more interesting. I actually am going to upload the tentacle-recess-thingy for texturing. Stay tuned, as this post will update promptly.

When it is mapped correctly, I can do some hand detailing, I like to work in stages, but that is a good base to start with.

Can I just slap the base texture on the .OBJ and have it come out in the .NIF? Would that work, I mean, for the purpose of refining a texture? B.C. I can't find a way to export a .NIF that is version 20.2.0.7. Maybe if I pasted over the .XML file like some are suggesting...Give me a few...

. . .

I still don't get how to update Nifscope. *BUT* I did manage to create a NIF w/ texture coordinates and the texture on it. The diffuse, anyway. for some reason the program didn't like the "01" at the end of the texture's file name, but if necessary (and I can't imagine it would be to link back to the texture for the .nif) Just rename the AGEDIRON01 to AGEDIRON. Here's the file:

HERE!

There was also a .MAT file, I hope I don't need the material file.

Well it displays well, lightened thje image up for details and made no adjustments to the mesh or dss file. the uv map is good as is, I just redirected the nif to my local file for the texture easy to do in nif skope.

much darker in nifskope. So I put a distressed bronze texture on it for comparison.
