lethielnyrond
Okay, I'm going to mention this one again, in the full knowledge that it will drop into a void of eternal oblivion...I can't do it, have no idea how, and everyone who mods has their own mods to do, and it would take a Mike Hancho or Locaster to do it justice anyway. Here goes then. (All the dialogue I'm writing is the player's--the other characters' responses would have to be rejigged from stock, but I've seen some amazing things done in that line.) This mod would add an option to the truce talks in "Season Unending." At some suitable juncture, with Elenwen still present and the two sides facing off, our friendly neighbourhood Dragonborn loses it. "I have something to say." Produces various Thalmor Orders and Dossiers and secret communications gathered over the course of the game so far. "Lady Ambassador, do you deny the authenticity of these documents?" Elenwen sputters a bit, but has to admit that they are authentic. "Okay. Now you and I both know, Lady Ambassador, that the reason you Thalmor are doing all this under the table stuff is because you know that if it came to a straight fight with the Empire, or worse still with the Empire and the Stormcloaks combined, you'd lose. The reason you haven't just rolled in and taken over is that--right now-- you *can't*. Right?" "Right. So you have--as my friend Delphine over there pointed out to me some time ago--a vested interest in keeping this conflict going. And it seems to me that if *you* want the civil war to go on, the best thing *we* can do is end it." Uproar! Tullius and Ulfric both yelling, Delphine demanding to know if I'm crazy. Only Arngeir seems untroubled. "That's right. I'm escalating this conference. Not a temporary truce, but a lasting peace. "Jarl Ulfric, you killed High King Torygg using the Voice, knowing he had not the training to respond in kind. You picked a fight with an unarmed man, using a technicality of Nord tradition and basically cheating. That was wrong. I'm sure Master Arngeir will bear me out on this. "General Tullius, you--on behalf of your Emperor, and probably at the secret behest of the Thalmor--interfered in what should have been a local dispute, settled locally. That was wrong. And because of these two wrongs, people have died. Good people. Neither of you wanted that, I'm sure. Someone at this table did, though." Elenwen, livid, storms out, vowing vengeance. "Good. Now we can get on." And the end result, with whatever land swaps suggest themselves as in the original quest, is that the Empire and the Stormcloaks agree to form a joint peacekeeping force, to fight Forsworn, dragons, leftover Thalmor, vampires and necromancers, because good gods there are enough enemies in this land without fighting each other. Ulfric rules half the territory, Elisif the other. The civil war is over, and the Dragonborn does not have to choose a side. At some point the Thalmor are going to become a real threat, but that's in the future and for game purposes can stay there. It would be a huge undertaking, but I bet it would be popular with all but the diehard war buffs. And they don't have to use it. Lethiel
Laydor
It would be possible. But you would have to get voice actors that sound very similar to those characters and probably would have to replace all of their dialog sound files with the new voice actors or else it would sound very weird. lethielnyrond
I don't know. There are mods out there in which the vanilla lines of dialogue have been tweaked and rearranged with quite impressive results. If I had a complete list of available lines I could maybe see what could be done. The Dragonborn is doing most of the talking, in what would be quite a short scene. As for afterwards, well, nobody said the Imperials and the Stormcloaks had to like each other...just not fight. But I do realise it would be a massive challenge to make it work.
