"Hide" things in inventory

Hi all,

 

I am chasing right to the point. I am looking for a possibility to hide the things shown in my inventory.

More precisely: through different mods i installed, i have now a lot of things/entries in my inventory that i dont use very often, or even never, as there sole purpose is sometimes only to be there for the mod to work or to make configuration changes. e.g. the ring you get with reneer's guard overhaul.

Now, what i would so much like is to have some way (i am not fixed on a special manner to accomplish this, as i dont know about the possibilites offerded by the game and cs) to blend chosen items out.

Maybe, by selecting them and pushing a dedicated key, what would put them on the invisible list (IL). Then of course, there must be a way to either put them back from the IL in the seeable inventory, or to be able to use them in the IL itself (would be better of course, if possible). To switch between these lists there would have course have to be some kind of switch...and i wouldnt mind if that would happen to be an entry in my inventory :)

Oh, i am just thinking of maybe another way to get the same effect, which is still to unclutter my inventory. -> Having a second inventory tab, where one could put all those unwanted things...

 

I have no knowledge in mod creating, so please indulge me.

But anyone who has, i wont stop you :)

 

If it exists already, please tell me, i wasnt able to find anything alike yet.

edit: i just realized, that this actually reads itself as a request. well it was originally not planned to be a request, more the search for a solution. but, well, i never ever requested anything. so, why not, its actually easy ;) so, yes this IS a request now :)

uh just a suggestion but..

have you tried the magic bag of holding mod?

 

its a container within the inventory that you can open up.. you can change the bag wieght or how much it can cary and comes with diferent pockets (ingreadients"it auto sorts all ingreadients form your inventory into it with a flick of a switch" treasure, and loot) just a suggestion but yea hope its helpful???

No, i hadn't and many thanks to point it out to me. I can now even remember having found this mod as one of the first ones when looking for mods. Only then, i decided not to use it, and i didnt know yet about some items showing up later in my inventory and a new use for it. And by now i had completely forgotten about it. :wallbash:

Well, so i tried it out and yes it works for some of the items/entries, but simply not for any quest item. So for now, this is a good compromise for me, but it does of course not completely resolve my special wish :)

To clear this further up, i do not want to get any weight reduced, i do not want a special container to store all my plant ingredients, or my keys, or any other item that "should" be in my inventory. As it is no problem for me scrolling through heaps of keys(and there are keymods), ingredients. I merely want some special things (chosen by me) that do not relate to the game world itself to blended out in whatever way, just so i dont see them all the time. When i look at my inventory and there are three rings i can never wear, but that do actually bring up some menus and are called "ring of sth. control" it takes a little bit away from the immersion i have so hardly added by many different mods. Even worse is some item that is called "...sit female 1" (personality idles 4 mod) or similar :)

 

Now i can live with the bag and just not use it for other purposes, but still more items (quest items) stay in my inventory when doing it this way.

 

Another question then to all modders:

Is there sth. like a questitem status that can be disabled for items. If so, will this break the functionality of a mod. If not, will it break its functionality when i put it in the bag of holding (assuming i make the bag of holding then a quest item itself, so i cannot drop it somewhere).

I strongly recommend to use this mod to temporarily disable quest status: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11531

It doesn't remove the quest status permanently, so you're not in danger of breaking your game.

 

Woohoo, now we're talking. Thank you so much for this link. I just checked it quickly, and it seems as this could be the thing i am looking for. If i understood it right, i can have a 15 second window during which i should be able to transfer the remainig objects to the bag of holding (thus always having them around), and my inventory would be clean...:rolleyes: :biggrin:

I dont have the time right now to check it out, but i will do so as soon as possible and report back here.

Oh, you made me a knight. How nice. :)

But then again, not that hard to become a knight in Oblivion. Even if you're an Ogre. :D

Are female knights called Sir, too?

hmm, i added the "Sir" deliberately, now do i get it right that "Lady" would have been the correct form of adressing? :unsure:

Ok, whats new about my little problem. Well, i checked out the "Move Quest Items - OBSE" plugin and, yes, it seems to work. I just use the disable for 15 seconds spell (not the permanent one), and i can then move all those rings and items to the bag of holding. After a restart of the game, none of them was added anew. As always one exception though: the "+Option" entry from the main COBL esm (i am only using the esm file as it is needed by one of my plugins), does reappear straight away after putting it in the bag and closing/reopening the inventory. Taking the other one out of the bag of holding hten, stacks to entries of the options then, but one is immediately removed from inventory as soon as i close it. So no problem here either. Simply this entry stays in the inventory so far.

One other thing i noticed, is that when using "Personality Idles 4", the new idle stances only seem to work, when the corresponding entry is in the inventory. Otherwise it seems to use the default setting from the plugin (different from the vanilla, one though after changing to that one, it probably stays that way.). I guess that it is enough to put the stance one wants to use in the inventory (maybe the resetting etc. one aswell) and it works. But i have not tried this out. I mainly use those stances and poses sometimes for screenshots.

I have only tested this all very quickly, as i dont have a lot of time right now, and a lot of problems could appear only later or i will only notice them later. So, if i am running into any problems, i will post it back here, for anyone interested. So far, i would say, yes that seems to work. Not more, not less. Try it on your own, to be sure.

 

Now, back to the initial request. I will leave this an OPEN REQUEST. Why? Though, i am glad to have found this "solution", my real wish has still not been completely and not perfectly resolved ;)

Furthermore, the idea could maybe be expanded to the magic menu as well, where i could then blend out a few of the almost never needed lesser powers, that can still not be deleted...hey, one can still be dreaming... :biggrin:

So, if anyone wants to try a mod, and has no idea or just wants to learn by doing, please go ahead!

Anyway, every object you put into the bag of holding is non existent for the game. So of course you cannot use an object that you put into the bag. Like animations, if you need to "equip" an item to make anyone do anything, it needs to be right there. Sneaky use: put any stolen goods into the bag. Even if you're found out and have to pay a bounty, the items are save in your bag. ;)

Yep, thats exactly what the bag does. But that doesnt seem a problem so far. So, i just had to take my panther deed out again (from cheydinhal petshop, my sneaky Khajiit Khajira simply loves his little black panther Kha, i am not always that uninventive on names, but i thought it fitted all somehow...). Otherwise, he was still there, i just couldnt "interact" (feed/give orders) with him. Took it out and it worked without reloading.

So, nothing really new, and if something related to a plugin whose item i put in the bag doesnt work anymore, i hope that taking it out makes everything work again and that there are no unfixable problems in the savegame.

Hehe, had read that about the stolen items somewhere, but i didnt want to use the bag for carrying more items...but now, i am already using it, to save weight. Hell, i had enough hard times only in morrowind to carry all my stuff around for the whole rest of the elder scrolls series...;) so i might aswell use it to hide those precious things my Khajiit stole, especially as he only steals worthy stuff. Furthermore, i remember using the bag years ago in its original game (was it baldurs gate or neverwinter nights?!), so i feel entitled to use it here :thumbsup:

 

So after all, i guess i just have to wait for the new plugin by ???. Who wants his name here? :biggrin:
