TemplarLord
Not really sure if this is the right forum to post this in, but I can't really describe my problem correctly since I don't know the correct terminology. Basically the topic title explains it, here are some screens: http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/uu192/Templar_Lord/Misc/th_TESV2012-01-0113-28-50-15.jpg In this picture you can see the darker ground rendered to be more dark, while in the next my character moves forward and the darker ground moves with him but only to a limited extent. And whenever I move the darker ground renders exactly as much as always, which totally breaks immersion sometimes. http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/uu192/Templar_Lord/Misc/th_TESV2012-01-0113-28-54-39.jpg Is there a way to make this go away so the ground is rendered properly no matter how far? l0m3n
try setting shadows to high.
egamar
Well, that's one way to get CTDs. I find immersion is broken better by CTDs than by trivial graphical deficiencies. Tweak at your peril. Oh, and if a bit of shadowing breaks your immersion I suspect you haven't played enough ;) There's MUCH worse than that yet to come ...
l0m3n
How does setting shadow detail to high in the skyrim launcher cause CTDs?? Are you playing on a toaster?
Tom2681
I'm not sure I understand your problem.Shadow distance looks good and I don't see anything wrong with your picture. Could you post better pictures? Something like Whiterun in broad daylight? I think my shadows look good. You can try my settings if you want: Skyrim.ini:fSunShadowUpdateTime=0fSunUpdateThreshold=10.0fShadowLODMaxStartFade=3000.0iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=4096 Skyrimprefs.ini:iBlurDeferredShadowMask=4fInteriorShadowDistance=3000.0000fShadowDistance=3000.0000iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=2048iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=4096iShadowSplitCount=2iShadowFilter=3fShadowLODStartFade=3000.0000iShadowMode=3bTreesReceiveShadows=0bDrawLandShadows=0bDrawShadows=1bShadowMaskZPrepass=0iShadowMapResolution=4096fShadowBiasScale=1.0000iShadowMaskQuarter=4bFloatPointRenderTarget=1 Let me know if it works for you. TemplarLord
Let me elaborate further. The shadows I demonstrated in the pictures... Are about the length a torch gives light. So, in essence, it's like my character has something active that gives a darker look around my character, for about the same length a torch gives light. I should note that this does not activate on all surfaces, for instance on snow it looks fine, but some outdoor textures like the fields outside of Whiterun, in broad daylight, gives the same issue. I'll post more screenshots later.
JediJake
I have exactly the same problem. It is very noticeable on walls. Here is a video
TemplarLord
Aye, that's that. but it seems you're using some FXAA mod or something so it's even more pronounced. I would've updated the thread, but in the meantime got a 15MB save file and my game started crashing like crazy. So I gave up until a fix is available. If ever...
