Brotherhood or Railroad first?

Ok so lets say you complete the game with the Minutemen and keep the peace with the BoS and Railroad.... can you THEN go back to the railroad and continue doing quests? Or you have to avoid them forever?

When is the best time to do DLCs? Before you beat the game or after? i have heard some say its good to do the DLCs before the end of the game, some say after?

If my memory serves, you don't get more quests from BoS or RR once the Institute is destroyed. But the vendors are still there, and if you did enough of the BoS and RR quest lines you can still buy the specialty items from Teagan and Tinker Tom.

Do the DLC whenever you want. On my XBox play-through I needed to test a mod so I did Nuka World before ever going to see Nick.

At least the radiant BOS quests are still active - I think I might have done a main BOS quest (Liberty Primed) afterwards but I'm a bit foggy on that (Iirc, Ingram just stores the techno device from Mass Fusion on board the Prydwyn for safe keeping). For the RR, at least the L&L gang quests and the radiant ones from Carrington can be done after destroying the institute (obviously, I guess, since for Carrington you're rescuing Synths that teleported during the evacuation).

The wonderful mod America Rising adds a whole new wrinkle to the factions. You can have a peaceful ending with the Minute Men, the Brotherhood, and the Railroad and still have the opportunity to destroy the Brotherhood afterward and replace them with the Enclave.

Just pretend it is all a game and that you do not have to address the morality of betrayal and wisdom of replacing the Brotherhood with the Enclave.
