Alternate start

I was really impressed by Skyrim introducing sequence.

Yet for a roleplay, it is not really immersive (as it was in Oblivion: forced to begin in a cell, you can't really imagine having been a rich merchant etc).

I remember Robert Evrae's Alternate Arrive by ship for Oblivion, it added a lot of possiblities as choosing which profession your character had, his wealth, if he has any diseases, and so on and so forth.

So it'd be great to have a Skyrim mod with an alternate start where you get to choose a number of things beside the character creation. I'm no modder, but maybe one will see this thread and be tempted.. ?

Things that could be included:

- skill points distribution. Example: I want to play a typical Magic-hater Nord, I'd like his Destruction skill to be 0, and his Two-Handed to be a lot more, etc. Alternatively, to be less 'mathematical', there could be a "what was your former profession" question that could determine a certain skill point distribution.

- diseases (including vampire and the lot)

- wealth

- basic clothing (if I'm a mage, I want to begin with a robe and a hood, even if they're unenchanted. If I used to be a blacksmith, why not a blacksmith apron... etc)

- why not, a companion (impersonating a rich merchant, you could want some bodyguard to travel along with you)

- factions relations... ?

We could expand the list. I know there will be a lot of possibilities with custom races, I saw somewhere that it would even be possible to impersonate a dog. You could begin the game as a dremora, a giant... or even a ghost (I am not refering to the Ice Wraith, rather to humanoid ghosts).

Even as a dragon. !

What's your say guys?

I guess once the CK is out we'll see a LOT of mods like this one anyway.

EDIT: just found the beginning of an answer: XSO modder plans to add an alternate start feature, but I don't know how far it'll go.
