itsatrap17
So I got rather used to how the models and what have you for the Skyrim CS was set up with the walls and floors being independent items. Now with me trying to get into the Oblivion CS I mainly see that nearly everything is just prefabed. So my question is there a resource or something I could use to have floors, walls and etc. to be stand alone items?
Surilindur
There are some modders resource packs around that come in pieces of relatively modest proportions. For example Castle Seaview doubles as a modders resource pack (at least the building objects like walls, floors and such). Some other mods also might have a mention in their description or readme about also being modders resources, but be sure to read the credits as well - a mod can have 70% custom assets by the author, and the author has given permission to use those, but there can be that remaining 30% of existing resources by someone else and you would need to find the original author and original resources to be able to check the permissions (or ask for permission, if it is not given automatically in the readme/description) and to be able to give credit to the original author. Oh well. Castle Seaview is one handy source for small building pieces. As in, interior pieces. The Griffon Fortress might be another one, and Ardah could also maybe have something (or not)? I do not know if there exist any base game prefabs that would have been cut into pieces.
itsatrap17
In short then, my two choices are borrow pieces from other mods or take a gamble with a NIF editor to create what I'm looking for
glowplug
When you say NIF editor there is NifSkope. That's great for tweaking materials, textures or animations but I wouldn't want to use it to do 3D modelling. If you haven't got money to spring out for something like 3D Max then there is the free and open source Blender 3D.The latest version is great to work in but does not support the Nif Import/Export Scripts, You need a second installation of Blender 2.49a to do that.I've done a tutorial on the steps involved. If you don't have experience in 3D Modelling then try Blender Noob to Pro.If, like many people, you simply can not manipulate unfinished objects in 3d space then I have to ask.Just what sort of set are you looking for?Can you provide a link to some screen shots? itsatrap17
Nothing fancy really, just materials that feel like that actually belong in the game instead of looking really out of place and I think I found exactly what I was looking for in the resources of Castle Seaview
itsatrap17
So I've got one more question, I've found the wall I'd like to use with the interior I'm making but the mesh in question has a kind of shadowy type bevel to it that makes the whole wall seem off. Is there a way to better blend that in the CS without an issue with clipping for will I have to modify the NIF itself? And the wall in question (which I've attached an image of) is bulidingwall02CRT from Griffon Fortress, though it could also be from Castle Seaview as I'm using assets from both
QQuix
Also . . . if you go to NexusMods Oblivion and search for 'Tileset' you will find a few more. (very few, I am afraid)
itsatrap17
Most of what's there is already packaged in the Useful Meshes Collection, which I've spent a few hours pouring over to find items that I might use
Surilindur
<snip> There should also be pillars or columns, wooden ones, in the Castle Seaview and Griffon Fortress resources, that you can use to make the walls look more natural. The walls that can be made with those resources are actually pretty great. For example here (from the Castle Seaview images section): https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/101/images/25574-3-1246641974.jpg Replacing the wooden part at the bottom of the wall with the engraved panels that are on, for example, the master bedroom walls (again, from the seaview images section: https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/101/images/25574-2-1246641974.jpg), seems to produce a nice effect. My own castle project has gone back and forth, but when I have something ready again, I can post a screenshot demonstrating it. But basically, adding pillars works. The first linked images is a great example.
itsatrap17
The wooden pillars would help out once I can find a scaling of the walls I find agreeable since the scale I was using would have far too many of the pillars. As for the engraved panels, I personally find them a bit gaudy on top of feeling out of place of the kind of middle class feel I'm trying achieve
