I honestly believe that Bethesda thinks highly of the modding community, and I just can't see them lowering themselves to the point of trying to make money off of others peoples hard work.

OF COURSE Bethesda thinks highly of the Modding Community!

Without that Community Bethesda would have just some bug-ridden run-of-the-mill play-once-(if you can)-and-forget games that wouldn't achieve their PR hype, sales numbers, financial targets, management bonuses and shareholder payouts.

Skyrim got GOTY in a few days because of expectations ... not what was actually delivered.

Those expectations were based on what Modders had done for Oblivion, F3, FONV etc etc, not the release-product Bethesda shovelled into the market (and the staggering drop in release quality and quick-fix patches between FO and O and Skyrim is staggeringly obvious).

They must also be terribly grateful for all the work their customers put in as a technical support team for fatally flawed products via forums such as this, unofficial bug-fixes etc etc: more $$$ left over for the money man and management bonuses ....

One has to give the Harvard MBAs credit: it's a beautifully sick business model :), but it's nothing to do with producing ground-breaking games.

So if you're not just trolling, what is your issue with Steam sir? The convenience of the game updating automatically? The ability to search the web whilst playing it in case you get stuck, because we all know what happens when you Alt+Tab in a non-Steam Bethesda game. Or is the achievements, which do nothing, but are nice little bragging metals on occasion.

Coming to a message board and saying something sucks without giving a reason is trolling sir. Now, if you wish to correct me, then please elaborate on the issue you have with Steam, and then, I will be more than happy to retract my pervious statement.

*spelling and grammar correction edit*

Hi. Just the fact that you can not sell a game on without giving your account name and password it.s not there for us

its there for the ones that make the games, that have to be downloaded from steam. I must agree there is convenience in useing steam

but I don;t want it, all you need to update is on the net. Skyrim was given to me as a present had I known at the time would have asked them not

two. As I do not buy game what use the steam .

Cheers Bullybeef

There's not really any convenience in having that kind of system in place. The first game I ran into online updaters was Neverwinter Nights II. Everytime I reintstalled I went through 10 minutes of actual installation process and about 2 hours of online patching.

I'd rather have a copy of my patches here on my hard drive than going through the motions.

Hi All true they knew the free mods would make a poor game look better which is why its left open for modders to add there work.

Hey, I've got a question, that maybe someone can answer. I doubt it though, but I'll ask anyway. Why does the game cost the same on steam as it does in the store? What's my incentive for downloading a game when it cost the same? What's the incentive for choosing to have a volatile, inferior copy when I can buy a professionally produced DVD? Let's face it, sure I can back it up on a RECORDABLE DVD. Understand what I'm saying here? If not, then I'm saying that DVD's that you burn yourself are of a very low quality. Everyone knows that they don't last as long, and they scratch from a mere touch. Besides the quality, I am responsible for making sure that I have a good copy put aside. So, why shouldn't I go to the store and buy it if I don't get a discount? I've often thought the same about itunes. Really, downloading content should be cheaper than buying hard copies.
