Mod install order guide (Does a comprehensive one exists like the one that was made for FO3?)

Hey there fellas,

I recently upgraded to a system that is far more powerful in terms of GPU and wanted to play this game modded with basic (depends on what you consider basic) essentials. I applied some eyecandy (texture) mods, basic cbbe and the full dialog interface mod. But I am at a lost on how I should proceed with the installation order and the required patches for the rest of the mods that I want to use. My current load order is like as follows:

0 0 Fallout4.esm
1 1 DLCRobot.esm
2 2 DLCworkshop01.esm
3 3 DLCCoast.esm
4 4 DLCworkshop02.esm
5 5 DLCworkshop03.esm
6 6 DLCNukaWorld.esm
7 7 Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch.esp
8 8 TrueStormsFO4.esm
9 9 WET.esp
10 a dD-Enhanced Blood.esp
11 b TrueStormsFO4-FarHarbor.esp
12 c TrueStormsFO4-NukaWorld-FH-Compat.esp
13 d FAR.esp
14 e CBBE.esp
The mods I want to install are Armorsmith Extended, Crafting Workbenches, Legendary Modification, Better Armor Mod Descriptions, AWKCR, Valdacil's Item Sorting, Traits and More Perks, Cross Pre-war Cybernatics, Immersive Scraping, Weapons of Fate, Def_UI.
I also want to make combat more deadly for everyone, meaning increased damages for all sources but could not settle on which combat overhaul (the term not the mod) mod(s) I should take. I request some suggestions on that part and would like to learn how I should proceed with the installation sequence of these mods. I have no idea if it matters or not. I managed to make a running game that does not ctd on my laptop but I can't remember on which order I installed mods, still it had multiple workbenches with the same name so it might not be working as it should. I would appriciate if someone can inform me of what type of mods should be installed in sequence and when I should run other programs that some of these mods require to be configured. I am also open to suggestions on what to use and what not...
Even if you don't have the time to write a full guide based on my mod preferences, I would be content with a basic guideline on which sequence I should install the above mentioned mods.
Kind regards...

PS: I forgot to mention that I use NMM and LOOT currently.

I can't remember on which order I installed mods

your saved game file will have that information within it.

If the above listed mods are installed already, sort it using Loot and post the results of Loots findings here.

  1. uninstall all the mods except DLC content.
  2. Re-install the mods according to the Loot result prior to uninstalling them.
  3. Sort again and test the game.

My question is not about load order but install order. Like when I should install Overhauls, when and on what sequence should I install crafting mods ect... Or are you saying that I should install what I want run loot and post it here so that you can provide insight?

My question is not about load order but install order. Like when I should install Overhauls, when and on what sequence should I install crafting mods ect...

hun, Load order is a determining factor you can not avoid, and it is controlled by Loot's templates.

If you install mods out of order? then you have a mess. Your install order for correctness is that sorted load order.

This way, the correct data overwrites will take place and be in sync.

Overhaul mods, I would need to see the readme's of interests for them to even get close to an answer.

Conflicts start when you avoid load order concerns.

we use a method to verify conflicts, in this case FO4Edit. we use loot to sort those conflicts and use the tools scripts to determine what is in conflict.

now, the bad part:

what you use to install these mods with? Defaults mods for Fo4 are in-game generated to a point, within the games loading screens under "mods" places the game settings to be hard core only, so then the mods them selves will require a lot of knowledge to sort the errors out.

Nmm? I can't say, I don't use it, I use Mod Organizer 2.2 in combination with Bethesda's online listings. Mod's hosted here I don't use.

For them you use Nmm. A lot of things come to bare on your choices.

I posted the simplest solution for you to use. You need to determine "your choices" first before any advice can be given.

No, there is no comprehensive guide for this game yet. What is available is a whole LOT of people that play the game, me being one of them.

I deal in Trouble shooting issues of the games and diagnostics for them.

So your choices is the bottom line, they determine an answer for you.

I see, I will determine what I want to use then consult to experienced people. Thanks for the input.

We are here to help guide you if we can, but lol, your question was a loaded GUN !

We have all been thru it , those of us that know about just how complicated Bethesda has made this game.

It's no picnic. Install all smaller NON overhaul mods first, then Over haul mods, second, then the UI mods last as well as weather mods.

Get a loot report that shows what is already determined the correct load order, and not worry about running the game at all because it most likely won't run.

That report was made by experienced modders and input from many users.

Use that report as your personal guide to allow you to re-install the mods in the reports order. Things will go a lot better from that point on.

The only thing that can cause real issues are off the wall things, any script-extend, or graphic tweak mods AKA (ENB'S) and injector types.

watch out for texture mods, some have a hard time running.

it all starts with what you want first. Fo4 is nowhere near as easy as fo3. not even close.

How can I put it?...too many hands in the pot..

Alright, my current load order is like this and loot shows no warnings and errors, and one message for unofficial patch as Delev, Invent, Names.

Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch.esp Try this (Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch.esm) and see what happens.

Do I achieve that by changing the extention? NMM has a warning as "This plugin has the extention esp, but Its file header marks it as an esm!".
