Hello everyone....

 

I have been a long time mod user,

medium time modder ( vanilla mods or simple retextures for TESIII, TSIV, FO3, and now Skyrim),

and very short (almost non existent) time modeller.

 

I have been wanting to expand my abilities with making mods so I am not so dependent on reusing other peoples models all the time.

I have tried following tutorials on blender and have tried monkeying around in nifskope but have had few results. I was able to replace the giants club and that was cool so I got to thinking I could tackle giving him shield. Nothing fancy, just attach a vanilla shield to his arm and call it good. Of course as you all know and I subcontiously knew, it is not that easy.

 

So to finally get to my reason for posting...

 

How do I attach models to creatures correctly using nifskope or if required blender?

I have the Nitrishape as a child of the main model currently, and have it linking to the bodies default skinpartition data but it still crashes skyrim when I encounter that type of giant.

 

What are the required steps to getting it to appear on the model?

 

In my attempts one of two things happen:

 

1: CTD with no message

 

2: game work fine but the added piece does not appear in game
