Triforce1
Okay, I have come up with a concept for the main weapon in a mod I am creating. The problem is, even though I have the tools, I do not know how to model. SO...I am looking for someone to either tell me how to mess with existing models and imput my own, OR someone who is pretty good at it already and is willing to give it a shot. So here the sketch is. It is called the Airblade, with a clear blade and dragons intertwined around it. The hilt is red; one dragon is black, the other gold. It will have no encumbrance to add to the feel (I can do that myself). I know it is possible because I have seen far more flamboyant weapons (the Daedric Chainsaw, anyone?). All you would have to do is mess with the glass longsword, I think. Sorry the drawing is on notebook paper, but I was at school. I hope someone takes pity on me... I hope someone takes pity on me...The only issue I would see with something like this would be it having a very high poly count, and being reasonably difficult to do. Ideally you don't want weapons, even ones which there will only be one instance of, having much more than 1200 tris. Given all the curves and minor details, you're almost sure to be going over that by atleast double. High poly count usually causes loss of framerates in those cases when the weapon is being shown (durring combat), and this can be compounded by any effect shaders which might be affecting the weapon. Given that, and the amount of skill needed to make something like this well, even if someone did make such a mesh, it would probably be for uses in one of their own mods. ninja_lord666
I can see only one problem: scale. In your concept art, the handle is too small for the size of the weapon. That's no big problem, though. I have problems with handle size as well. ;) I like your image, though. It looks good.I tend to agree with Vagrant, but if more emphasis is placed on the texture than the model, this could be pulled off. It wouldn't look as good, but it would be doable. However, it would still take quite a bit of skill.
Triforce1
Why is it that Vagrant0 is always the first to destroy my ideas? Just kidding...you know better than I about this stuff. So since that would be tough, anyone else? The reason I brought up modelling is because that was the only way I could see to do the dragons, but if that is even partly unnecessary, then okay. I am glad at least the Ninja_Lord likes it, but that really gets me nowhere. So, advice? I could probably do it if someone could tell me how to add my own models to the game. It WOULD take alot of work, but hey, that is what they said about my city, and I had it built in a week. I am sure someone out there is willing to help me out...right?...
thking9794
Well i'd help, but, i am horrible at modeling also, so i am kinda making a pointless remark here.
LoginToDownload
There's a really good Wikibook called Blender 3D: Noob to pro. I suck at modeling as well...
bben46
It's vagrant's job to shoot down pie in the sky ideas. He is actually very good at it. I see a lot of wacky ideas that need shooting down. He has a lot of good input, and he is a definite asset to Tesnexus. But don't give up just because he says it will be difficult. Use his input as a place to start and go ahead with your idea. In this case he didn't say it couldn't be done, just that it would be difficult. Find a way to cut down on the poly count.
Triforce1
Oh, I wasn't planning on giving up. And I will do my best to make it less intricate to lessen the poly count. My remark was not meant to be mean; it was a joke. In fact, oppositely so. Vagrant and LoginToDownload have given me the best advice and help a new modder could ask for. It is simply that Vagrant is always the first one I hear from. I have alot on my plate right now, but expect this sword to be made sometime in the near future. Thanks you guys! And to Vagrant, well, thanks for something you will do for me in the future, now that i typed that, i don't need to type "Thanks" later, or put up this little guy - :thanks: Even though i will any ways
