keeping books

There are so many! Each time I steal a book that I would like to keep I get nabbed and lose it. This is becoming quite frustrating. I can not remember all I read and want to be able to keep them.

Its like u cant steal anything. I saw a vid about carrying a basket that is put over the head of the witness, funny and seems to work but I have not tried this.

any suggestions.

...don't get caught?

I've played the game through twice, stealing anything that catches my fancy, and I have yet to be arrested or even caught. It can mean waiting till 2 in the morning, picking master level locks, or killing all the witnesses, but there's always a way.

Books are the main reason I purchase homes in Skyrim. It's the only way I know of to access working bookshelves that will actually display my books. Vlindrel Hall in Markarth is my favorite with four bookshelves all next to each other for an awesome home library.

yes i quite agree, not enough room for all the the books , but I did solve that spwning in a chest with all so I can read when I play that char. don't think I will try this too often as I am having trouble below Markath with 4 denizens that seem impossible to get passed and sneaking is not an option. I am only lvl 8.

think the game actually "knows" that the console has been used to to better my char and responds. ha. so much to do so much to see! and read and remember.

I read somewhere that there are an infinite number of side quests a neverending game, if you want.

There's an old shack just west of your first dragon kill with a hidden chest under the floor boards. I keep my collection there until I'm ready to buy Vlindrel Hall. It hasn't failed me yet.

Yes, the game knows your level and will level up many of the NPC's to match. So if you cheat with the console in leveling your character, the game just cheats back at you. If you want to play feeling like a super hero, just lower the difficulty. Also, focus your leveling to just a few skills and perk trees. Remember, if you level up things like enchanting, smithing, speechcraft, and alchemy, these higher stats will cause your enemies to also level up further. So don't make lots of potions just to sell them to merchants, else you'll be rich but dead.
