the seven samurai

hey i was wondering if there could be a little village, that has a quest based on the storyline of the move "the seven samurai" ?

heres the plot

A veteran samurai, who has fallen on hard times, answers a village's request for protection from bandits. He gathers 6 other samurai to help him, and they teach the townspeople how to defend themselves, and they supply the samurai with three small meals a day. The film culminates in a giant battle when 40 bandits attack the village

this is a trailer, its about 4 minutes long but gives a brief idea "i hope" about the movie

the role of the PC would be the one of the youngest in the film

maybe the rest of the samurai that the player gathers from different city's? like a drunken samurai from a pub in Imperial city? a skilled swordsman that could be found training in the wilderness near a secluded village?an old blade that could be found in Cloud Temple? and so on so forth....

the seven samurai's story was also made into an old western movie called... "the magnificent seven" like many samurai movies lol but eh enough of that..

im not sure how to do quests, scripting of AI or anything like that but i have already started work on the village... but im not the best with the toolset... but yea im hoping someone greater will pick this up

because i reckon it could be a really .... "not sure what word to use" side quest

the villages could give you a special blend of rice? that has rare properties beneficial to a warrior type class, of course this is not limited to a melee class but it would be perfered as quite a few bandits would be charging the village, as such you "the PC " would have an outpost to protect like the main gate while the other seven would be protecting the other entrances... the battle would take quite a while but sending in 1-5 bandits at each gate ... less for the npc's but yea....

but near the end a few more bandits are sent in to over power the npc's that remain

then at the end of it all but you "the PC" and 2 more samurai's remain alive... but yea.. hopefully people wont just glaze over this n move on..

i am currently looking for face shots for all the samurai featured...

i have uploaded some screens from the movie..

it is better to watch the movie tho lol

"p.s sorry for the long lines of text, just trying to get out as much detail that wouldn't make people uninterested"

im thinking of attempting the mod myself im just not sure where to start.... literally at the monment i am thinking just off the yellow raod in the ninben area... but maybe betweeen anvil and chorrol? any ideas?

the terrain is slightly muddy (really muddy in movie because of the rain during the battle) and there is 3 entrances into the village...the outer terrain of the village is a valley... of course this dosnt have to be the terrain but that is what it is in the movie...

i have started making the npc's (still on #1)

any ideas on mods that will help with this mod?

i currently am using for this mod

I'd be tempted to suggest trying to make it a seperate worldspace. Either through some sort of portal, or putting in an NPC who asks for the players help, and then guides (move, and then journal update to simulate the journey) the player to this new place. It may not be what you want, but it is probably the easiest way of getting something like this done. With a seperate worldspace you can limit travel outside dirring this sort of event, and have less chance of anything interrupting.

As for the bandit attacks. Due to how poorly the game handles large battles, you might need to setup a series of waves, with 4-5 bandits in each wave, spreading the battle out across multiple fronts.

Needless to say, you'd probably need to have a very good grasp of the CS and have decent scripting skills to pull off anything like this. This doesn't mean that you can't do it, you'll just have to push yourself into learning how to do things. The wiki is a great resource, refer to it often.

yea the portal i dea was my first choice but i was aiming for the samurai that u find to follow you to the village...

although it could work like that... have the quest giving npc somewhere.. and have him not teleport the party till it has all members? or maybe even partial to add dificulty?

im not sure where to put the quest giver either.. imperial city seems more welcoming.. but its crowded with mods as it is.. so maybe bravil to get the feel of desperation from the quest giver

as for the bandits that is what i meant a wave of about 1-5 at each entrance to the village that the samurai and PC would be guarding? but the battle is more defending then offense so it would all be at the one front...

that is where i need a really good scripter or anyone who knows how to do it to remove the bodies after a small time frame....

i was thinking of making the village into a much larger and sparse location as it could help the framerate and morchallenging so the PC cant handle the gates on his own even when cheating

as for my skills... very very dull lol i have it up when i get the time and i refer to the wiki... " im not a good learner when it comes to reading online"all ive learnt from CS is through exploreation.. but i am currently doin quest tut's :wallbash:

but yea... that is why i put it into the file suggestions.. im hoping that some one will see the potentiol with this idea...

thanks for noticing the thread Vagrant0 lol

anywho im sick atm and got work tomorrow so im off to bed lol
