jaysus
i wanna suggest a way for mod authors to disable the "comments" alltogether, best if the button for it goes too, but in a way that allows the "dicussions" tab to stay, so that instead of just being able to post a comment users might have to pick a category aka "comments", "bug reports", etc... i set up those categories but 90% of the mod users still just post in the comments even tho id like these to be rather for casual talk and not the same bug report again and such things i assume thats because they just click on comments and dont even see discussions... hence being able to disable those seperately in teh file preferences instead of disabeling both would be sweet
Deleted133263User
I think its a bit bizarre the way it is just now. We had that change where endorsements were moved out of comments into its own discussion .. But also in discussion the official discussion is just the same topic as comments, so in-line with your suggestion, why not just ditch the comments button because they are in the Discussions titled Official discussion anyway. And maybe, now there is space, move one or two of those tiny buttons down from above the Endorse me button amongst the Actions - Down to where the Comments / Images / File buttons are - Required files, Upload an Image, and Permissions and Credits for example would be better situated there. On the Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide, because I disallowed comments and endorsements (newb TESNexus uploader not knowing it would be permanently disabled), I have two redundant Comments and Discussions buttons nobody can do anything with. One of them even says "The author has disallowed discussion on this file for the time being" Edited January 4, 2012 by Guest
Thandal
i wanna suggest a way for mod authors to disable the "comments" alltogether...This capability is already implemented:  Nexus Files Area - User Permissions (Defaults shown, but can be changed.) http://www.dragonagenexus.com/imageshare/images/1678793-1325642613.png Note: The Commenting choice is semi-broken in that if the "No" option is ever selected, it takes Staff member intervention to get it working again, even after the author sets it back to "Yes". Thandal
@alt3rn1ty; What mod is that? When I go to add a new FNV file, I get this: http://www.dragonagenexus.com/imageshare/images/1678793-1325683072.png
Deleted133263User
@alt3rn1ty; What mod is that? Its The Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide It was the first ever file I uploaded to TESNexus, so I was un-aware that turning off the option for Endorsements was a permanent deal. So in my case ... Note: The Commenting choice is semi-broken in that if the "No" option is ever selected, it takes Staff member intervention to get it working again, even after the author sets it back to "Yes". Even if I wanted to request that comments were switched back on, its not an option in the permissions. So I am left with a Comments button which will never be used And a Discussions button, which has the site comment "The author has disallowed discussion on this file for the time being" .. 'For the time being' in my case is forever. And will also never be used. Another anomaly with my file is the Endorsements button. Prior to Endorsements discussion being surgically removed from everyones Comments, I did not have an Endorsements button (which used to be tied into Comments - Which as mentioned I did not initially allow). Since Endorsements Comments went to Discussions, and the new site change, I have gained an Endorse me Button. Actually that has caused a few PMs both on here and on Bethsoft forum - Along the lines of "Alt3rn1ty, I wondered with so many downloads why you only have so many endorsements, when IMO it should be getting a good amount of endorsements from all those people"So I have had to explain the history of the Endorsements not previously being allowed, and the unlikely event that people would return and realise I have gained an Endorse Me button.I am not complaining, nor do I wish to change anything - If anyone has any constructive feedback instead of Wrye Bash installation problems they will go to the linked Bethsoft forum anyway .. As for the Endorsements I dont really care for them, people repeatedly downloading updates and not seeking me out on Bethsoft is proof enough that it is useful to anyone and has not caused problems with bad advice, along with people linking the guide just about every time someone is new to Wrye Bash.... But just letting you know that since the Endorsements were separated from Comments, and the site change, and the phenomenon that is Skyrim diverting everyones attention .. The site has a few anomalies in my case. Edited January 4, 2012 by Guest
