Skyrim refusing to launch

The subject says it all. Skyrim, which had been working perfectly fine until two days back, suddenly stopped launching. The SKSE launcher doesn't work either. I opened the task manager to see if Skyrim.exe was active: it was, as soon as I clicked on "launch SKSE" or "launch Skyrim", but nothing happened and soon it disappeared from the list of active applications.

I always run all my games as administrator.

This is Skyrim, not SSE, by the way.

Please do not ask me to reinstall the game. Firstly I don't see it as a solution - it's just a desperate move hoping the bug doesn't repeat. And secondly, I don't want to have to manually reinstall my mods - or worse, risk losing my saves!

1. ELFX Weather and CoT do not work together nicely. Reinstall ELFX and I'd not select the weather option this time. In fact, any weather mod that doesn't specifically say that it is compatible with CoT is probably not very compatible imo.
2. You have Pure waters and Realistic Waters 2. Choose one. They don't work nicely together.
3. Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade needs two mods. Read the mod page and install the mods, putting them in the proper load order listed there.
4. I would generally not install any sound file with an NPC overhaul unless they are completely compatible. Make sure yours are and that if there are any patches, that you make sure you have them.
5. If you are using a custom skeleton (such as XPMSE), load it down at the bottom of your load order. I would suggest getting XP32 Maximum Skeleton Extended just in case one or more of your mods requires it but doesn't mention it. I believe immersive creatures may be one from what I hear, but I could be wrong.
6. If you are using Mod Organizer, make sure that your overwrites section is empty and that your left pane load order matches the right pane.

7. Make sure you test any changes on a new game rather than an old save.
