Dan3345
So just to clarify, if I wanted to change my characters appearance, (not race, just facial appearance, and maybe sex) nothing bad would happen except I would lose my active effects until I got them back, correct? Sorry if this is in the wrong board, I am not sure where it belongs..
micalov
After 200 hours of gameplay and constant use of "showracemenu" without changing race, never noticed any errors.

Sorry if this is in the wrong board, I am not sure where it belongs.. What I've noticed is you lose your racial bonus, I changed my hairstyle on my nord & lost my 50% resist frost. You *can* mess your stats up but you'll know before hand. An easy way to tell is by following this: If your hands look they're tied up (same pose as in helgen) then your stats will mess upIf your hands are by your side, like you're standing normally then you'll be fine. rpger30
I'm guessing we can use "addspell ....." to re-add our racial bonus? I believe 0x000aa01f is the formid for the breton magic resist racial for example (from skyrim wikia).
TimF
You lose racial and other bounces, that are listed in Active effects. You can have your attributes messed up if you don't lock them beforehand with tgm.
Xouthpaw
You can change race with 'setrace xxxx' without any setbacks also (As far as I'm aware) Edited January 4, 2012 by Scklyic

LadySheogorath
You can use 'show race menu' safely ... but with some restrictions. If you change race or move the preset slider ... you will mess things up. I think gender might be one of those things not to touch as well, but am less sure of that. Things that can be messed up include stats, abilities, and perks. Some of the perks cannot be repaired afterwards no matter what you do (not all, just some). This is a particularly unwise thing to do if you're a werewolf. In that case, the next time you transform, when it wears off you will be your former race again but with an invisible head. My advice is ... if you want to make changes that big, reroll. You can, however, change superficial things like hair colour and style, skin tone, warpaint and scars and make-up and so on, with no permanent problems at all. Please note that if you do the following, messed-up racial bonuses will be regained: make the superficial changes that you want, rename your character, at this point your racial bonuses will be lost, now make a save in a new save slot, quit to the main menu (repeat, the main menu), then reload to your new save. Racial bonuses now fixed. Go out looking like a new man/woman. Edited January 4, 2012 by LadySheogorath
