klokwerkaos
So I'm having a rough time with something, and I'd really appreciate if an experienced modder could help out. So I started with having this mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7722/? Which creates a replacement by calling on the prewar version.... Then I did something dumb and installed this without uninstalling the old one: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/14834/? The result was that if fused the bridges together. So I decided to pull the first one and leave the second one which just replaces the old. Nothing happens, bridges are still fused. Start a new save with only the one mod. Bridges are still fused. Delete all local content and the second mod, fresh reinstall, add second mod, bridges are still fused.... So yeah, having a day with that... I can't find where the bridge is located in the architechture files (I'm on steam), and I have like 10 arc folders (went through all of them) because I have a ridicuous number of mods (though none of them affect the bridge, and all were also disabled and reenabled, and in both cases, bridge was fused). I think the script to call on the pre war bridge is just stuck hiding somewhere and I don't know where to begin to find it. If anyone can give a hand to sort this out, I'd really appreciate it. I just want the cement bridge. It works with both fused together, but it's driving me crazy because I can't build the Sanctuary fortress I want. All help appreciated! All respects, MK
damanding
Manually download the first bridge mod and look at the folder structure and file it adds, then go to that same directory/file in your Data folder and delete it. Odds are good that NMM didn't uninstall properly.

klokwerkaos
I should also note that I checked the NMM directory and did not find the base file, which means something is weird for sure, I'm positive it didn't uninstall correctly because if it was there I could just delete it. Further, I did reinstall and uninstall the first bridge to try and clear it... nadda results

The purpose of downloading it manually and choosing your own location to install the mod ISN'T for the purpose of actually installing it. The purpose is to be able to look at what the folder structure is and what files the mod includes so that you will know where to then locate that file in your Fallout 4 Data directory and manually uninstall it. The latest versions of NMM have had significant problems with properly installing and uninstalling mods lately so you can't rely on NMM to have actually done the job. I see what you mean, I did that already, just didn't mention it explicitly. It goes to architecture, unique, northbridge.nif.... I actually don't have a northbridge.nif anywhere in my fallout 4 files, even though I checked integrity after full reinstall... which is why I'm super confused. damanding
Yeah that is odd then. I mean I could see it potentially being baked into a save file, but you said even a brand new game that never had that mod from the beginning wasn't working. It might be that the problem is actually NMM's backups of the plugins.txt and the other text files it uses to keep track of what mods are installed is not getting properly updated and so it is updating the actual file location but not the Data directories. The files in data directory are just virtual copies now, but normally if you change things in the Data directory it ripples back to their actual file location. I'd really appreciate it if you have the time :)
klokwerkaos
What it sounds like you're saying is that NMM wants to virtually update it, so it keeps doing that and I can't get rid of it until I figure out where the update trigger is and remove it. damanding
I barely understand what they're doing with NMM these days. Basically NMM uses text files in the same location as your plugins.txt to keep track of mod information for uninstalling. Those might be part of the problem. Secondly, NMM has recently changed from installing mods directly in the Data folders to using it's own folders and then using file virtualization to trick the game into thinking the files are actually installed in the data directory. What's *supposed* to happen if you manually change things in the Data directory is that the changes actually get applied to the real location where NMM is storing the files. Given that pretty much everything about how NMM works has been badly broken in their recent updates...it's probably a problem with that system. Sorry, gotta run AFK awhile. Hope that helped.
