How to edit a tree mesh in Blender?

Christmas is coming. I am into Winter Skyrim. It looks fabulous.

If only I could edit these two trees meshes:

I need to remove, cut off those ugly dry boughs. Never tried editing tree mesh, so I bumped into a problem with importing these nifs to Blender (well, for some reason I can't attach nif files, so here is a link to download from archive):

I've been totally happy, untill I came to visit my new Tree House of yours. Guess, what I found there?

Right: those creapy giant thorns sticking out from each and every corner. My Christmas dream have not come true. It's turned to a nightmare :sad: I havent noticed one more "wrong" pinetree model:

So, I dare ask you to edit it the same way you did with previous ones (if it wont take hours as the discription would). Or please, tell me how you did it in short. Or I will be waiting for Santa to come.

Exactly.

well ? I sort of got it, I did remove just all the vertices in blender , but some how in nifscope importing it back, the tree's trunk got removed?

 

So I am going to start over again. Not sure the older Blender will do the things in skyrims data base the same way it does for older games. I know what to do and how ,just not so sure about the format changes between these formats?

 

Now if you wish I can show some of what I am doing here?

You were editing the trunk, so the trunk got removed. Reasonable.

 

I've been thinking of another way, of editing UV in NifSkope, so that the textures on those undesirable parts of model turn invisible. But, whatever direction I move those dots in, nothing happens...

4 different types of software and no go, and I know there is a way to trim the trunks, I did tables and chairs and buildings, all sorts of things in fallout.

 

I never once bothered with trees. Those, I used speed tree to edit them with. Those types are not *.nif files.

 

It's fun though figuring out what can't be done.
