JJFALK
JJ - The yellow box with the exclamation point is an indicator that the game was unable to find a texture for some object. Usually from a recently installed mod. When you use some unzip programs, such as winzip sometimes they do not put the meshes and texture files in the proper place. Instead of winzip or winrar, use 7zip. That is what most of the mod makers used to zip the mods. And not only is it FREE, its available right here on Tesnexus http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15579 I have 7-zip but what do I do with the 7-zip files, they don't extract or open :thanks: for the help and I'm sorry if I'm being a pian as a newb but I don't get it
bben46
I don't understand your question. 7-zip is the program you use to unzip the mods. Mods are put into a compressed format (commonly called zipped) by a file compression program such as winzip (.zip) winrar (.rar) or 7-zip (.7z) The reason for this is to save space and make downloading easier. Once you have downloaded the zipped file, you must unzip it into the proper place - for Oblivion that place is the Oblivion\data file. A good unzip program, such as 7-zip will also look for subdirectory structure in the zipped file and automatically put that information into the proper subdirectories such as Oblivion\data\Textures It is a program and not a mod and is not just used with oblivion mods. It is a common program used to zip and unzip almost any data. You may need to first install it and set it as the default program to use for 7-zip and other zipped files. The installer does all of that for you if you answer yes to its questions. There is an instruction on how to use it included in the download. here. http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15579 One of the advantages of 7-zip is it handles other zipped formats very well, such as winrar. I don't know if this is what you are looking for or not. There is an explanation of several of the different zip programs in the same olace you download the 7-zip from We were all rookies once.
