jUsoNeaZnkYd
What do the dark brotherhood and other side quests do for you??....(Thieves Guild, Winterhold, civil War, Daedric Ect.) I am new to the Elderscrolls world so this might sound nubish.....
Dukkah
Completing them will usually get you access to unique items and abilities, and adds to character development from a role playing perspective. Plus, many of the stories are as enjoyable as the main quest line, if not more.
jUsoNeaZnkYd
I am playing a 1-H/Shield character.....which ones should I try to accomplish and how do I start them???????
Dukkah
Hmm... You'd probably like the Companions in Whiterun to start with. Just go to their hall near the crazy guy screaming about Talos. Can't miss it. Once you get going, many of the other quests will come to you. Don't be afraid to talk to NPCs: a lot of them are useless, but many more will have stuff for you to do. gahnzz
kewl...thnxs for info bro....will check that out Also, I'd say just explore. The other day, I was walking past an old ruins on my way somewhere and a bandit was killing other bandits. She eventually won and it turned into a whole exploration of the ruin with neat gear and a whole plot line that has nothing to do with the dragons or the civil war. Exploring the world is what these games are about. Pick a direction and walk... I avoid fast travelling except when I forgot something...

Moredhel
I can't seem to find where the quest chain starts.....looked all over White RunFor the companions? Well, the "questline" to join them starts outside Whiterun, at a farm near the stables. You'll see a giant being attacked by some people. Just walk over and one will talk to you (Aela the Huntress). She'll point you to their boss :) You don't, however, need to do that. Just get inside the Companion's Hall and search for the door leading down. Then turn right and walk all over to the last room and talk to the old guy ;)

NoobusExtremus
Until you acutally buy a house, your assigned "housecarl" will be in the Great Hall (where the Jarl sits), where you were first introduced. Oh yeah, you can just explore and talk to innkeepers and others, and you'll stumble upon all sorts of fun stuff. You can do any (or none) main quests. I think you have to do some "main" quests - the ones with their own category name instead of "miscellaneous" - every now and then to get to some really good stuff.
