gahnzz
So, last night (for the nth time) I went ahead and slaughtered an NPC when they fell down pleading mercy simply because they would only get back up and re-attack after the cycle played out in their coding. I'd love to have a genuine "Submission" mod created that not only had them become non-aggressive NPC's but also maybe a different quest reward if you spared them. Or they could offer up information that leads to a new quest, or give you a key for a scret chest, whatever... This'll have to wait until the CK comes out obviously, but I think there is a nugget here that people could really dig. Any modders interested in checking this out? Allephus
I agree 100%. I'd kinda like the ability to go to a bandit encampment and slaughter all but the chief and when she/he's on his knees, you sheath your weapon and gets up after their little tantrum of pain and initiates dialogue with you saying, "Why....why did you spare me?" And you could have the option of saying...."To see the hope drain from your face one last time as I cast your soul into Oblivion!" or you could say, "You are mine now. (Intimidate).", or "Since I spared you, I think you should serve me. (Persuade)." And whatever the result of the "roll" is, he'll either go back to trying to kill you or swear his loyalty as another companion......maayyyyyyybe even give you the fort he's at and you could gather a whole slew of people and have the ability to assign them there. :-PI like your idea of giving you a key to something secret and valuable too.

bobglaub
I'd be down with simply, "I submit, i submit" then they run away. Maybe later on in the game you'll run into them again. Whether it be running around on the street, or perhaps they joined up with another bandit group... Who knows, maybe they've even started another group. Allephus
But how could you tell, if their name was Bandit and you came across another Bandit? lolJust assume that's him, or would he say, "Oh no. Not again! Run!" and take off again?
kenshee
Some of the ideas here were really cool. One I would like to see is to be able to persuade the bandits into cleaning up their acts (would be a great option for a nice/good/hero character), and then the game assigning a random name to that character, giving him/her some villager's clothes and assigning them to a city. They can then give you an item or some gold later on when you come across them to thank you for sparing them. (if possible, making them an option for marriage would be neat, so you can spare particularly attractive bandits for that reason maybe (little less noble though :P)?)
