WatchTheShow
Every few seconds all the shadows in Skyrim move, and then they stop. Then they move a little more, and then they stop. Even if you use "set timescale", this doesn't fix the weird shadow behavior. Setting the "set timescale" does nothing! Nothing I say! If you speed up the time, the shadows' jerkiness only gets faster (and hilarity ensues?). If you slow down time you get very slow, but still jerky, shadows. My question is, can this be fixed or modded somehow so that shadows move fluently? Here are two video examples (the second video is much better). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=es84W6A1XsQ
miscdude
The problem with fixing this is simple. The reason there are little jerks is because the shadows are like an animation, it cycles through completely, but the more frames there are the more data there is. So if you wanted fluid shadows, you'd basically be adding frames to the shadow animation. That's a big deal, because it means almost every object in the world is being animated in realtime constantly, which means a loss of performance depending on how fluid it was. Perraine
You can actually alter this setting in Skyrim.ini or Skyrimprefs.ini, I can't remember exactly which one, but there is a pretty comprehensive 'tweaking' guide done by some nVidia nut, which runs through all that stuff ... IIRC he says you can decrease (increase?) the refresh time of shadows so they update more frequently ... BUT ... The game is basically redrawing the whole scene EVERY TIME, so absolutely kills your fps and kicks your gpu/cpu/mem right in the cojones .. Goolge "Skyrim nVidia tweaks" or sonething like that
