Moddable A Light Shining in Darkness?

Edit: I see you are getting some expert help in the GECK sub-forum with a mod for your specific need, so ignore this. I'm leaving it for any lurkers.

The GECK is only needed IF that first mod slot is empty and the other two aren't. I took a quick look at "NVDLC02Weap45AutoPistolUnique" ("A Light Shining in Darkness") along with WMX as the "active file" in GECK and don't see any weapon mods listed for it. The same for "NVDLC02Weap45AutoPistolUniqueMelee" ("Joshua's Pistol Whippin' .45"). When I look at the "Weapon" sub-section labelled "WeaponModsExpanded", I don't see any entries that refer to a 45AutoPistol at all. So, while I am not a GECK expert, I don't think WMX by itself is allowing those mods.

Now it might be that some other mod has those modifying entries. In which case you need to load it as well. But without something adding a weapon mod specific to either of those two weapon Form-IDs, you are getting into "customizing" the mod and not "bug fixing" WMM. Doesn't sound like what you are interested in.

My suggestion would be to either ask in the comments of the mod that supposedly allows those weapon mods, or use a less problematic handgun. The "unique" weapons are usually limited in order to prevent them from becoming too overpowered.

@Kitty Black/Purr4me:

I suspect the OP is frustrated because he has been led to believe by other posts elsewhere that the ability to apply a "weapon mod" to ALSitD is already present in WMX. He is apparently a complete novice to the GECK, and I am not much better: just more adventuresome.

I have to admit, I couldn't figure out where the link to the patch you made is located in your post. So that may be all that is needed: a clear link to download your patch, with instructions to load it after WMX. He really don't appear to be interested in learning how to make the edit in GECK.

well, unfortunately ,we were both wrong in assuming the type of edit he or she wants as I just found out.

he wants the in-game menu to reflect that Unique weapon. And it's not on /in that list in game.

That's the problem.

as for the other ,we are in agreement. So, I am building a patch to attempt to do just that ,add more to WMX VIA a patch to include the data requests.

NOTHING in this game is impossible. Missing, oh yeah, but not impossible. :devil:

A quote directly written with the script in WMX base code:

WMX detects that you have equipped the Weathered 10mm Pistol. This weapon has an unfortunate (seemingly hard-coded) bug that means that any weapon mods applied to it will not be visible on the weapon.

This menu allows you to swap the defective original Weathered 10mm Pistol for a fully-functional duplicate of it. Doing so will effectively erase any weapon mods already applied to the weapon, so it is recommended to remove them first using the Weapon Mod Menu. (Find a link to the Weapon Mod Menu on the WMX New Vegas Nexus page.)

When you are ready to proceed, select the 'Swap Weapon' button. Select 'Cancel' if you are not ready to proceed (this menu will appear again when you next equip the bugged Weathered 10mm Pistol),

Thanks for the info. Added to the "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.
