How do you save any changes made in GECK?

Well... to be perfectly honest, guys. I think someone will have to walk me through exactly what to do because none of it makes sense.

All i want to do is make it so Joshua Graham's gun can be modded. I have WMX installed. It refuses to allow me to mod ALSID. So someone told me to edit the weapon's Mod Info in GECK. How exactly would i do that? And what's best practice for doing such things?

okay, open GECK, click on File ( upper left on toolbar), click on Data, select the mod you previously saved. select active at the bottom of the window, click on okay and wait for it to load. do not click on GECK while it is loading, its like a temperamental child and will crash if bothered while loading.

If you do not see the mod that you saved before and do not want to bother with it, select Honest hearts, do not click active just click on okay. wait for it to load as soon as it is loaded click save use the name you want to use for the mod and then once its saved begin modding the weapon. to use or test in game, open your mod Manager, FOMM or what have you , make your mod active start game and the magic starts.

save every so often GECK has a nasty habit of crashing,

and as usual I am a day later and a dollar short. reading the posting that was made while I was writing, I note that you actually wanting to change the model. not actually mod the weapon... disregard please LOL

Mkay. I really appreciate the help and even posting the screenshots to show exactly what to do. But I think there's still some confusion. I am only trying to make it so I can actually mod a particular gun. I don't want to change the 3D model.

And going back to the screenshots. I still don't know what they're showing me. Viewing the 3D model? Sorry guys.

  1. Do you want to edit the plugin of that gun ?
  2. Do you want to edit WMX version of that gun?
  3. Last: what edit do you want to do to that gun?

Remember, the mod data for WMX is precise. There are methods not taught by any tut any place that allows us to do things out of the ordinary.

For that reason, you might find some "terms" Pictures, and setups, talk to seem strange to those of us that know how to do all of that.

From my understanding you wanted a way to unlock the ability to edit that Gun AKA the "model" ? is that not so?

What this screen shows is meant to do is show you how we unlock data for a piece of code, in your case a weapon in a mod AKA (WMX), a mod that has mod kits with in it.

The MOD/ WMX was based from HH DLC content, but added more to the code with it's own plugin.

As you can see by the shot, that mod is not enabled, the reason is I unlocked that data so you can edit it within the geck for which you were trying to do but were unable to save the data "your edits". Now, with this plugin I made for you, you can, it's a GECK made patch.

With in this patch, the geck will install some of the scripts the gun is related to as well as targets for the assets..assets you already have installed.

In order to obtain access to those assets with in that mod, you need to by pass the locks, the method used to contain the data, the same data you are not allowed to edit.

This plugin will not break the WMX mod's code at all, it will override it. ---AKA a patch you can use to edit data in the stream above it in the load order, that means it loads under the WMX mod's data in the load order..last file loading wins.

This plugin allows access to those items with out touching the WMX mods assets. your free to do as you wish.

Do you now understand?

I mean... I'm looking at the screenshots, and I'm not seeing any actual steps to do this.

But to make it super clear. I literally want to MOD (modify in-game) this weapon. Not... "mod" mod. I want to attach an HD Slide and Silencer in-game. Not alter the weapon as an in-game asset in any way, shape or form. Weapon Mods Expanded is a mod that allows a higher degree of modifications on weapons. Including weapons which could previously not be modified. Unique weapons could never be modified. Such as Maria and A Light Shining in Darkness. In the thread I started previously, someone suggested I use GECK to somehow solve this problem. WMX apparently does allow A Light Shining in Darkness to have attachments (mods) added to it. Even according to other supporting mods. Yet interestingly, it isn't listed. Maria, for example, is. It is listed on the Weapon Mods Expanded page as a weapon that can be modified after installing the mod. Yet A Light Shining in Darkness isn't... just.. something to note. But I DO GOOGLE. And according to people here, they have/it can be modded with WMX. I suppose the author just didn't include it.

Damn, what a piss-off.

then, all that remains is a simple list entry to include that weapon. Then what your after is it to show up in the in game menu and allow IT to be modified.

I'll close down the geck here now and look over the other data for WMX...now that we are on the same page and get back to you.
