hundinman
Hmm... I have two different stories to tell about Marijuana... First one; one must know of my neighborhood. Not in any sense a bad neighborhood; It's just sort of a 'hippy' town, so, you know, odd people come in and out.... On to the story! Down my block, there lives a local professor. His kid used to baby-sit me. He is a respected member of the community, and does his job well. Whenever I go bike-riding, I find him sitting in his front-yard smoking pot. Second story: I was in hawaii (yay!), and I was visiting a local Buddhist temple. (I find the architecture very interesting.) Across the street, I saw a group of people huddled around one of the old VW vans. As I started heading back to the hotel, I heard the words 'woo' 'pot' fun' and 'weed' drif out from the group. Then I saw a cop coming near. I decided I should get out of there; fast. But to my surprise, the cop just got out of his car and JOINED the group. So, what that means is, I believe it doesn't matter whether weed is legalized or not. Obviously cops don't care. I havent tried drugs, ciggarettes, alcohol at all, and I hope never to get into them. But quite frankly, none of it matters. The law overlooks stoners, and those who do mess with the dealers die hanging in some meat cellar in a remote section of Colombia. wow, interesting story. I live in a nice neighborhood in California, USA. At the end of the street I live on, there is a very trashy looking house. The residents look as bad. Every day they have these so called "customers" come and they pull of drug deals. The cops are at the house once a month trying to catch them in action but they leave empty handed. I think that this is no coincadincebecause if a dumb kid (me) can ride his bike past a house and actually see them making menthamphetamine I think that some cops could catch it with a search warrant. Any way, the deals continue and I continue to get pissed off that the stupid cops are probably getting paid off to let the stuff go on for 15 years. Darnoc
Well, I come from Switzerland and together with Netherlands, Switzerland is the Weed-paradise (or in German: Kiffer-Paradies). At our Gymnasium, about half of the people are smoking Weed. And they aren't hippies or something like that! I now some classmates of mine, whom I just have to ask and they would bring me some Weed next morning into school. Everyone knows who is smoking (even the teachers) and nobody has a problem with it. Some take it, because they are artists of some kind (writers, painters, musicians) and want to be inspired. I myself took weed several times together with some of my colleagues and after this I could just write, the ideas were just flowing to me. I seldom experienced such a thing. I think, Weed should be rather legalized than Alcohol. Drinking Alcohol makes aggressive, the weed-guys I know are alltogether pacifists and really nice guys. They are calm, peacefull and funny and I like them more than some other guys I met (serious business guys, fundamentalists and extremistst, I just can't stand them!). When you have to ban something, you should ban alcohol and cigarettes, not Weed! As said, taken in a certain amount it can acctually inspire you and make you creative. There are several artists who take weed just for this purpose. What would you rather have: Bunch of drunk guys who destroy everything in their way and harm other people or a bunch of peacefull weed smokers? Well, I stick to the weed-smokers. OK, you can't ban alcohol, because it is part of the european culture, especially wine. But when alcohol is legal, also weed should be legal (and those damn cigarettes not!). In Switzerland it is at the moment in discussion to legalize Weed (10% of the population are regular weed smokers!). There are already existing legal weed shops in some time, where you can get your weed without problem (at the moment it is still experimental, but those weed shops really let the crime rate drop, so there will probably be more of them, when those damn conservative guys in the government wouldn't be there!). I'm not a regular weed smoker, because I think it's not good to be addicted to something. But rather I would like to be addicted to weed than to alcohol. And to those who are Christians around here: Look, I'm christian myself and I don't have a problem with all those guys smoking weed, I'm even sharing with them sometimes. I can't understand why christians make such a noise in some other countries (especially the USA). Jesus also drank alcohol and ate with those considered sinners in his society. So I think, when he came in our time, he would probably go to some weed-smoking guys and smoke a joint with them. Perhaps I have to remember you that everything is poisonous and healing, depending on the amount. Weed can be a very good thing, when you want a "creative kick", also can alcohol (it is acctually good for the digestion. For those christians not believing me: Read in the letter by Paul to Timotheus. He suggest that Timotheus should drink some wine everyday for his digestion-problems). Ancalagon
Personaly, I say legalize it. If anyone remembers the lesson of the Prohibition, then they'll either decriminalize or legalize the reefer. I've toked and smoked-out a few times, it was...interesting. I was in Mexico when I hit my first joint and me and a bunch of other guests at this resort were philosiphizing on life and such. The great part was that my friend and I were the only Californians there, the rest were from Scotland, Canada, Argentina, Europe, etc. We all came from different walks of life, and different ages (ranging from 18 to 36) and the only way that I can really describe it is by making referance to John Lennon's song 'Imagine All the People'. It was just like that. Though, I would never smoke more than twice in three months. I have been clean since New years (well, I ripped a bong for the 1st time on New Years...). Reason being that I am going to be a Firefighter here and I need to be clean. So it looks like I won't smoke again until Sophmore year starts next September. Meh....:P

MyDogsTale
After reading Dark0ne's reply to Breton Thief Oriana's topic; we got lots da magic mushrooms, yo! . Dark0ne stated that topics that concerned drugs in the manner that people promoted, boasted and such about their drug acitveties was unwanted. I hearby ask any moderator to close/delete this topic if they find it unapropriate, or in any way drug encoureging. After all, Dark0ne is the admin of this site and his wishes about these things should be respected.Had i known his personal oppinions about these topics then this one would never existed. Ninja kick my own head! Eltiraaz
I thought this thread was about whether it is right to legalize marijuana? All this has become is a poll about who does it. If were going to discuss legalization lets do it, if not lets move this to Off Topic.
Breton Thief Oriana
fine. I, for onw, say legalize non-violent crimes. there are no victims unless it turns into a violent crime. puffing a little grass in your living room is a non-violent crime, it only hurts those who are alergic, etc. however, if it is in your car, and you kill someone, you are screwed. send your ass to jail. tehre are too many arguments in the wrong place about this. For example, teh religous-right argument that it goes against god's will. wrong, entirely wrong. even in the bible, in the book of genisis, it says "I give you all my herbs for your use". the argument that it is bad because people become addicted. wrong. even fast food is an adiction now, and weed isnt as addicting as that, furthermore, it is your choice to smoke it, and therefore i shouldnt have the power to stop you. the argument that it causes deaths. partially wrong. it is only as bad as a pack of ciggeretes if a single person smokes three joints; when i smoked it, not even 6 people would smoke three joints, and barely even two--we'ed allways have a roach leftover; also, water-filtering takes out the tar and carcenogins. and the most important argument: that illegal weed reduces crime. extremly wrong. prohibition creates crime, and we didnt learn our lesson with alcohol, did we? Eltiraaz
I dont really need to argue this is a religious context but even if I did, God made it, therefore we can use it. I say legalize. If it was put on earth it was put on earth to use, as long as people use it responsibly. I dont see any problems with it other than the fact that governments feel they will come under fire if they do. The only concern that there really is, is the fact that it used a gateway drug for kids to move into harder stuff like crack, or herione. But I mean, if people want to do these drugs, their going to get their hands on it whether its legal or not. Marijuanna is so easily accesable anyways.
