bobnaj0001
I have repeatedly tried the last part of the Mage Quest prior to being handed over to Tavern. I go to Mystic Archives, fine the book, "read it" talk to Meena who does not address the "revnants", take the book-screen says to discuss with Meena and then go to lady with Romulus. She gives me a scrap of paper and instructs me to talk to Romulus. He does not give any reference to my completion or advancement. I dont know if this is a bug or not. Help and thanks
madman132
Thats normal. You have read the Book and talked to Tar Meena about its contents (Black Soulgems). She suggests that you go to Raminus Polus (thats his Name), to talk about the Book. He will mention that the "Necromancers Moon" is a astronomical Phenomenon, "Bothiel" should know Something about it. Bothiel cant tell you much since the Orrerry is broken. But she gives you a Note that Falcar once dropped. Bring that Note back to Raminus Polus. He will direct you to one of the Sites mentioned on the Note, Dark Fissure. You may travel there and light until you see a Light in the Night Sky. A Necromancer will appear, you kill him and get another Note, which explains how Soulgems are turned to Black Soulgems. By the Way, the Name of the Archmage is "Traven", not Tavern :D

bobnaj0001
I have tried this but Tar Meena does not even mention black soul gems
Malchik
Tar Meena talks of black soul gems BEFORE referring to Necromancer's Moon so it seems you have done that. You need to take the book back to her to get a reference to the Shade of the Revenant. Tar-Meena has no more to say on black soul gems now. Raminus will direct you to Bothiel, who gives you the 'hastily scrawled note' and again you seem to have done this. You take this note back to Raminus Polus who will now tell you to visit Dark Fissure. The relevant dialogue topic does not immediately appear IIRC you have to scroll down his dialogue box to get it (the bar to the right of the dialogue box). Check that first as it may be all you need to do. If for some reason it is still not advancing you can use the console to advance the quest but do check the dialogue box first! 3rdtryguy
It can take a whole game week for the Necromancer's Moon to show up, which by the way looks like a big purple shaft of light coming down from the sky and illuminating the altar. This can be a big pain.Of you're in a bigger hurry than that, then you can enter the Dark Fissure cave, take the fork to the left, and take down the first guy you meet. He'll have the note you need just the same as if you waited for him outside the cave. The beauty of this is that you won't have to wait around for another week for the Moonbeam to come; just take the one already on it's way.

Yeah going in is a good idea unless you try it like I did and don't kill him with a sneak attack on the first shot and he runs down away and you round a corner and find several of his friends LOL Lawrence
