Fallout Fashion?

Hello!

So I started a video series called "Fashion *Insert Game Name Here*" from which I received a lot of positive feedback. As I am quite the fan of the Fallout series, I decided to make one about Fallout aswell:

However I would like to know if you guys do care about your character's appearance at all, and if you do, what is your preferred wastelander apparel? or if you're just a survivor trying to survive, equipping anything that offers the best stats?

Cheers!

Mine at the moment (female) is the marine wetsuit, with all the armor pieces from a certain Far Harbor quest, except the helmet. I've a ballistic weaved coastguard hat instead. It's all legendaried (is that even a word? lol), except the hat. Edited by star-mystyk

My outfit at the moment - as a woman in the game - is Sirius Armour, pieces of Legendary Combat Armour in Polymer on each limb and Commando Chest Piece.

In my PC save-file I've used Sirius alot, now I'm just using armorsmith trying to look for a less futuristic look

aiming for something like this:

I think legendaried is definetly a word on FO4! haha,

Well I've not been using the marine wetsuit alot in this playthrough, I think that the face is a little strange resembling an irradiated fish, however I suppose it would go well with an assaultron helment or maybe a sack hood

Oh, I care very much about what my character looks like. I dare say it's the most important thing. After all, as a wiser man than me once said, "All assassins had a full-length mirror in their rooms, because it would be a terrible insult to anyone to kill them when you were badly dressed." (Terry Pratchett, "Pyramids")

Seriously, I won't even use weapons if my character doesn't look like he's actually looking through the frikken scope or down the actual sights in VATS. Would it have been THAT hard to actually line up the animations with the weapons, Beth?

Though my idea of fashion is not necessarily the majority view here, judging by the endorsements. My own character concept, as I keep saying, is less along the lines of "supermodel bikini babe" or "dirty wastelander", and more along the lines of an accomplished brain surgeon. You know, giving out free lobotomies in .44 Magnum, courtesy of Messrs Smith and Wesson, purveyors of fine brain surgery instruments since 1852. So he or she HAS to look the part.

Nothing ideological against those who go for half-naked or dirty, btw. If that's anyone's thing, more power to them. I'm not gonna try to convince them otherwise. Just, well, I have a different favourite personal look. And sometimes I wish there were more choice for my kind too. (Well, without my having to get off my ass and make my own suits all over again )

My current characters, well, I've gone through various experimentation, but mostly stabilized at one variant for each gender. The guy:

Ok, so I had been watching Preacher

And the gal:

And yea, in the last picture, she's got her own Insane Clone Posse going

Or the amored punisher look:

Edit: and yeah, the gal almost invariably has glowing Underworld eyes. My back story is that she got bit in the neck by an elder lawyer at the end of law school. That's how bar exams work, right?

Unless for special occasions I dress up my characters in what I think is appropriate - that is covering- outfits. "The Survivor" being the exception. "The Rebel" is a favorite of mine for males and females. As well as the Bomber Jacket and - later on- a suit of NCR Ranger armor.

I don't wear the wetsuit facemask. That's ugly. It looks too much like a quirky Spiderman costume. The rest of the suit was really the only thing that didn't look strange under the bulky armor. As she's usually armed with a gatling laser and missile launcher (and a Disciples knife for fun) I preferred wearing something that looks as if she can wield such big guns. I only wear power armor during BoS missions. The novelty has long worn off

Prior to that set up she was just wearing Femshepping's outfit like in your screenshots. The half-Maxson coat with blue jeans, then I later switched it out for the Merc Combat Jacket A from The Mercenary - Pack.

Edit: You can see a couple of images of my character in my signature. She's uploaded as a preset (Lucy). I guess, then, I kinda lied in my description, lol. I didn't use her for a long time but now I've gone back to using her. She's my BoS playthrough. But, I really am testing mods with her. Especially More Smarter Companions.

My Institute girl is primarily for testing Start Me Up. She wears the Wastelander outfit in The Mercenary - Pack plus Rebel Gas Mask and Rebel Hoodie. X6 wears the B-90 suit (Institute) no helmet and no jetpack, I didn't like all the extras.

Only in Skyrim do my characters wear next to nothing. In Fallout (3, NV and 4) my characters wear more practical gear, seeing as there's no magic to protect all those bare bits, lol.

Good Nine, Skyrim is the last place I'd want to wear next to nothing, on account of the weather. Even with a reasonable amount of clothing, I'd wear about turning into an elfsicle when exploring those mountains up north.

Thank Talos for Vilja and her wolf pelt armour, plus the bear cloaks from that other mod.

Well, I suppose unless you're playing the tropical version of Skyrim or something. Though I'd probably still wear Vilja's armour, if nothing else for the incredibly derpy looking wolf helmet

Whether I'm playing a female or male, I normally wear the Vault 111 Suit - New modded with a legendary effect then with various metal and leather pieces also nodded with legendary effects unless I found them with my preferred effect for the particular piece already applied.

One piece of wearable I refuse to go without is Rudy's Scouter mod. Slo-mo is great and the target ID feature is especially useful to avoid deadly encounters at lower levels. Plus, it looks very cool with black holder and green lenses.:)
