False "save corruption" during gameplay

No matter how may times I tried a new game on newly reinstalled skyrim (but still with the same mods I used on other characters - more or less), I always got the bug! Making sure that the forms are all in 44 also didn't make any differences on my part.

Well folks, I may join this party in the next few days. Spent about 2 weeks working on a new Skyrim SE install; Few small merge patches, a bunch of CLASSIC-TO-SE self-conversions and making sure everything that was Form 43 was saved in the CK for Form 44.

Finally fired up my game last night and made an initial save in the alternate start starting area. Checked it with resaver and my string count is at 59k at Level 1. Last time I was more hafl-assed with modding in SE; Had a string count of 42k and started having corrupt saves around level 15.

Everything should be real clean now...If string count is really corrupting these saves, I should be hitting it very very soon. Will report back!

Think we've already dismissed that strings matter that much, because I've started games around 35K and have had the issues around 38K. I can always duplicate the issues by browsing my crafting stuff, making armor and scrolling through the incredibly long lists...

Thanks for the summary; I have gotten the bug before and I was always thinking it was string-related. I will be vigilant and note what was going on if/when it happens again.

ah, perhaps crafting , with a long list of objects, plays into this!

many game would outright crash when inventory is huge.

crafting. and of course many crafting mods that change the vanilla crafting system too. thus if only one huge crafting mod is installed, then really there are TWO crafting mods here, the mod and the vanilla crafting. over writing and maybe partially overwriting.

would it be best not to craft at all, with a huge mod list?!

For some people, it seems to be the most reliable way to get the bug to show. All we have to do is scroll down the lists a few times and it's done.

Not so much overwriting, but probably the injection of so much the engine has to keep track of overloading it. Too many records to keep track of or something.

hi all.

there is a supermod, called "the great skyrim nexus overhaul". they advertise hundreds of mods, mostly crafting, armor, weapon mods.

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/10472/?tab=1&navtag=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrimspecialedition%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D10472%26preview%3D&pUp=1

"Hundreds of improvements made to quests, dialog, crafting systems, leveled lists and logical changes/edits.

A completely new level and take on Quest-line based equipment.

Items from the DLC are now in the other areas so it seams like the DLC were all a original part of Skyrim."

"Highlight Totals:

New ingestables = 150

New Ammunition = 90

New Armors = 4,755 (Most are enchanted variants)

New Spells = 717 (Care was taken to prevent duplicates)

New Enchantments = @160 (I don't have a proper count right now)

New Ingredients = 11

New Misc Items = 33

New Shouts = 29

New Weapons = 11,090 (Most are enchanted variants)

Many new powers & abilities (I've lost track on these) ""

[dang! my windows 10 computer nexus forum postings has it where I cannot add a link nor even paste, if I try to use the tools to add a link or paste, the entire screen jams up. must reboot the page. you will have to look the mod up in search, sorry!]

[by the way, I found out what the pasting problem is with nexus. other people in other forums have had this problem with explorer 11, the browser that I use. one has to change the compatibility settings to add the forum url to the added links that need the compatibility settings, then click that obscure button on the upper left to change the text format. I dare not try the editors for adding the spoiler tag, the link box, the text field!]

something like 2 gigs, zipped.

I was considering to use this in my game, I downloaded and noted that even mod manager shudders with this mod, I cannot move it in the load order and oooh my, the number of scripts!

has anyone here tried this mod? maybe this mod could be a good testing mod to see if scripts + huge number of mods + crafting, ruins the saves.

then too, someone, someone with better writing skills then I have and better mod understandings, could post over in their comment forum to see if anyone there has experienced this bug with their using this mod. to ask them all if people there have ruined poisoned saves with this mod. if "no", then this information might then be important. if "yes", some or many do, the It Will Be Then Known that crafting plus huge mods, plus scripts, will ruin the save.

Actually, there was another user that said switching to SNO actually helped their issue wit this bug. I may have missed any followup, but I do distinctly remember that they said once that was installed and others were removed it did improve stability. Could someone confirm the accuracy of this if they remember more?

very interesting!

at the bottom of the page they suggest several more mods to use with this.

Suggested mods to use with this:
kryptopyrs' mod(s) Currently not ported to SSE yet...
- Weapons & Armor Fixes Remade
- Clothing & Clutter Fixes
- Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade
- Smithing Perks Overhaul Remade

----amazing if this huge compilation actually works better then many crafting mods. maybe it could be that, as he writes, that they are carefully put together and even maybe that he unknowingly fixes something in the engine!

I would indeed like to know.....
