False "save corruption" during gameplay

Something I suggested earlier. The reason the game shows the saves corrupt has nothing to do with the saves themselves, but instead the game renders itself to a state it actually can't see the saves(content of the saves). At that point the clearness of the saves doesn't matter, the game says they are corrupt because it thinks it should see them but it doesn't and the corruption is it's assumption of the cause. Be it a memory tick of whatnot. Why it seems to perpetuate in saves made after that is because something that gets saved fastens the process that gets the game into a state where it doesn't see the saves (or message strings) all in all, some kind of memory problem.

Early on someone said this doesn't happen in totally mod added areas. Some say doing message window intensive stuf increases this appearing. Has someone tried if doing lots and lots of crafting could make it appear in mod added area?

Edit: has someone closed out voice files as cause of problem? Or repetitive playing of them. Did the skybird thing, where some people found some help by disabling it, make the game play lot of additional bird sounds? Have those new areas where this doesn't happen been voice acted? When the NPCs list some dialogue, was the ones left those that are not voiced?

Yes, random thoughts again.

Okay, we have some follow-up questions from JLeavey, Community Manager for Bethesda. I've answered them as best I can, but obviously the more answers we can assemble the more data points they'll have. If you'd like to answer here I'll copy the responses back to them.

"We do have a few follow up questions: How big are these user saves getting? Does this seem to occur after extended play on one character/save game or are users able to repro from a new game? Is this happening ONLY with mods installed? Have any players not using NMM or LOOT seen this occur (meaning, has anyone only using mods installed through Bethnet seen this behavior)? Thanks!"

Well regarding to the save game file mine is 65 hours now and is 6,85 mb big.

Still i didnt add new mods but more or less stopped playing skyrim because i would like to add mods but dont want do destroy it again.

The fake corruption only happens for me with the building mods and sometimes crafting stuff. Besides that the game runs fine.

My saves are 6-11 mb big (with different characters, playtime and number of mods). The corruption happened in the past with fresh saves that had only half an hour of playing. It only happens with mods. I'm not using BethNet, but it doesn't seem to be a NMM glitch as I've checked many installed mods manually and never found any missing files. I'm not really using LOOT - sometimes for recommendation, but with complex load orders I prefer to use my head and check conflicts with TESEdit.

I just started a new game a few days ago and ive been dealing with this issue and i think i might be onto what is causing it in my game. I dont have no magical fix, but i figured i would report my findings/testings so far. Im still in the testing phase but, ive manage to stop the save corruption so far in my game (knock on wood). Mine was repeatable and there was two ways i could get it to kick in. One was dieing in the same cell i saved in which seemed to take a few tries and the another was following the same steps i took during the opening. My test was starting a new game, fast traveling to riften, grabbing indigo, going to the jarl and whiterun then walking to bleakfall barrow. By the time i made it to the door of bleak falls barrow i had the corruption every single time.

So after spending like two days messing with everything i seem to think its one of two things for me, running mods that arent optomized for skyrim SE or mods that arent package right. This is how i came to that conclusion.

I came across a random post in some no name gaming forum during my search for answers where someone said they solved there issue by removing any oldrim mods from there playlist that they downloaded from the skyrim nexus. You know those mods that everyone swears work for SE, but dont have an official SE port and the mod author hasnt been seen in a while. So thats where i started i went though and removed about 5 mods from oldrim that i was using in SE. There were nothing big, a few texture/mesh replacers/stat tweaks. After removing them i ran my test again and i still got the same corruption.

My next step was reading though all the mod pages and looking at the comments more closely. One of the mod i had my suspicions about was advanced follow tweaks. So i searched it up on the nexus to read the mod page and noticed there was two versions. The one i had was "Dheusters Orginal" which according to the mod author was a repack. While "AFT SE" was a more featured updated port. So i switched out AFT for the more "updated" version. Ran my test again and still got the same game corruption but it seemed to happen a tiny bit later than normal. Usually by the time i fought all the bandits at bleak falls, inigo started to become unresponsive and i got the corruption. But this time, i managed to make it inside bleak falls barrow with no issues. That was until i met the spider scene and talked to the guy with the claw. After getting the claw and activating the door inigo started acting weird. Looked at my saves and there is the corruption again. Tested it a few more times and was able to repeat the same thing by after going though the door.

So after that it made me start looking into more mods, that arent from the original mod authors or are "repacks". One way i did this was by going into mod organizer and searching for file extensions and looking at dates. The only mod i could find that was still active and had file dates released before the creation kit came out was interesting NPCS. There is a "alpha version" on there site which is full of loose files. I decided to remove that from my load order, and retest. With that mod completely removed, i ran my test again and made it completely though bleak falls barrow with no issues. I played for a few more hours, making sure to save as often as i could, talking to inigo to check his dialogue, saving at dungeon entrances and charging straight into enemies so i could die, killing inigo then killing myself, etc. After about 3 hours of beating the save system to death, using every type of save possible i couldnt get a corrupt save.

So i decided to add it back in to see what happens and just as my test went before i got the corruption at the same spot right after activating the dragon claw door. I started to search more into 3dnpc and found out that the reason its full of loose files is because people were having issues with the old BSA's and the creation kit was crashing when they tried to be repacked. But someone in the comments, mentions there was a new update to the creation kit since the loose files were posted which made it possible. So i followed his steps, took all the loose files repacked them activated the mod and retested again. So far ive completed the bleak falls barrow test and managed to play for about 4 hours more hours with no issues. I even managed to load up some of the corrupt saves i made before and cant get them to corrupt again.

I plan to keep playing though my save and testing more but so far i havent managed to run into the issue again. Im not 100% which mod it was, could have been some of the mesh/textures from oldrim, could have been the repacked port of AFT, the massive amount of loose files in 3DNPC or a combination of them all. All i know is one thing they all have in common is they arent updated and ran though the creation kit recently when they were made. So which makes me think the game is saving stuff to save files that are either the wrong format/path/etc and getting confused when it loads again. Which in theory makes sense since so much stuff saves to you save file. If i am on to something and its a creation kit issue, the problem is there really isnt a way to know which mods are effected or whether or not it only happens when its combined with certain other mods, or put in a different order.

I will post again if i manage to run into anymore issues, but i figured i would add my two cents to the pile of posts here.
