Ender88
I'm not honestly sure. I would think that it would be sufficient, but it didn't occur to me to try that. Always made more sense to me to move all esp's out of my data folder and into a backup so I wouldn't be second guessing which files I had correctly marked. aleksi134
Well i downloaded legacy of the dragonborn my scripts total are at 7.65k my script instances are at wopping 161k, 50.6k strings and yet it still takes me while (as in minium 30 minutes to 2 hours) to get corrupt saves. So im certain its triggered randomly at random places and from certain things i can definetly say crafting is one of them for sure if you want confident corrupt save always. jaffa5
Those who experienced this issue, can you please confirm that you using Avast antivirus? If so, disable the Ransomware shield and let us know if this helps. *guess i should add... so with the release of "XCOM 2: War of the Chosen" it was found that Avast Ransomware didnt like how the game created thumbnails for each soldier in your documents folder, so after a few hours of gameplay it would block images which resulted in soldiers thumbnails to be replaced by "IMG:" image.. eventually leading to the game crashing. Disabling Ransomware shield or removing specific folders from its scan stopped this from happing. I assume other games might fall victim to this.I'm using Avast Antivirus but i only use the free version so i don't have the ransomware protection activated as that is only for paid users so that shouldn't be what is causing this issue. Wackadoo
Hello. I am returning to Skyrim, this time on SE after a long time far from games and after I install a lot of mods I am facing the fake corruption save file people are reporting. I decided to make a hard experiment turning on and off mods here and there and check what happens. Yes, I read all this long forum topic and I know it is not relate to a specific mod but some weird things I notice when I have the bug. At least for me it usually happens just after a combat., not every combat, but it always happens to me after a combat, never walking around, cooking, crafting.I start to hear the combat music and the combat with enemies happens and after finished if I go to menu and check the save, it is there that colored image and message about corrpution. Then I started to check all mods that could be "accelerating" the rate as I don´t think it is a specific mod doing that. Thinking on combat related mods, as it is something that happened to me. After trying a lot with the mods I found some weird behavior. If I start a clean game with Smilodon turned on, I am using alternated start and like choose the camping in the woods, just walking around and finding some bandits usually bugs my save, not every time, but most of the time. If I start a clean game and there is no Smilodon and the respective Mortal Enemies patch, I played around 2 hours and nothing bad happens. Again, I am not saying it is Smilodon causing bugs but this week I see the Smilodon page is disabled on nexus with a message about some engine difficult issue. I checked Wildcat and it is disabled with a message about engine difficult bug. I don´t know if it is related or not but that turned on an alarm in my mind. Another weird behavior is with Smilodon turned on, as soon as I spawn on the camp, there is no Alduin flying over my head, starting a fresh game without Smilodon, there is the dragon flying around. I tested a lot of situations and the bug happened again when I was walking to Riverwood, found bandits, combat music, checked saves and corruption. Loaded another game, near Embershard Mine, again, met some bandits and bug. Inside Embershard first contatc with enemies, bug. Played again to be sure, no Smilodon this time, did all the same route, found bandits, killed them, loot, continued the path, no trouble, did some Riverwood quests, Blakefall Barrows round, more bandits outside, enemies inside, no bug. I am playing again for almost two hours and no bug. It does not mean I will not have the bug but I am not getting fake saves for now. I have a lot of mods, lots of texture mods and around 240 mods that uses esp. My saves are around 7k scripts and 46k strings. Some of my mods are merges from many armor and some are merge with followers but I did not merge any other mod I use. I tried start a clean game with Smilodon off and after playing around for a while I turned it on and this time I was able to play for half hour and many encounters without bug showing, that is weird. Why a mod at starting game can mess things and loaded after some playing does not mess it is a mistery for me, maybe coincidence. I need to play a bit more this save to check if it will happen in the future. I would like to know if someone else use combat mods like Smilodon/Wildcat and can repeat the test I did and tell me the findings if it is worse with and better without the mods. I have other mods that are related to my problem but with them alone the bug never happens. I use OBIS with patrol addon, I don´t use OBIS loot, I use Mortal Enemies, Immersive Patrols, More Bandit Camps and Populated Skyrim Hell Edition. All of them are related to npcs combating and I found the bug once just watching some npc fight and not being involved. Again, it never happened if I start a clean game without Smilodon. Thank you for any help.

AudieMurphy135
How I fixed my false Corrupted Save Bug: I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but, I have a potential fix for some other users here. I used to get the corrupted save game pretty consistently until about a month ago. I haven't changed my load order or the types of mods that I use. What I did do however was remove all of the unused esp files that weren't being used from my data files and put them in a separate folder (in case I had need of them again). I have played pretty substantially since then and I haven't had a false corrupted save since. Explained Further:For example, say I was using two mods. A main file called MODX and then a patch file for it called MODX_Patch. If I then merged the patch file with the main mod (thus rendering MODX_patch useless) I would then remove the MODX_Patch.esp from my data folder completely (to my unused esp folder in case I need it again). This means that I no longer see this mod show up in my nexus plugins tab and it no longer exists for skyrim to read for it. My take on why this might work stems from how when I used to keep all of my active and non-active esp files added together my total would reach over 255. Since Skyrim SE will allow you to add and remove esp's while in game my guess is that a glitch would occur in the engine and somehow count and register the non-active number of esp's that I have with my active ones and thus bring my mod limit to over 255. Now all the files I keep in my data folder are also all ticked as being active. Those are my two cents anyway. Hope this potentially helps someone else! Edit: If someone else could try this as well and report what they have found it would help to see if this is just myself or is useful for other people.I saw your other post about the plugins file on reddit, and you may be on to something. Ghosting files in Wrye Bash doesn't remove them from the plugins.txt file. Will test this later.

Gothpunk4Christ
I saw your other post about the plugins file on reddit, and you may be on to something. Ghosting files in Wrye Bash doesn't remove them from the plugins.txt file. Will test this later.Really? Previously, I did have my esp count down around 230, and WB was ghosting the files. But even with the files ghosted, my plugins.txt would still read over the ESP cap of 255. This makes a lot of sense, though I want to say some other people have mentioned that they were not merging, were not at the cap limit, and they still had the bug. But maybe this is my fix. Will test asap. *edit* no fix for me. I would like to know if someone else use combat mods like Smilodon/Wildcat and can repeat the test I did and tell me the findings if it is worse with and better without the mods. I have other mods that are related to my problem but with them alone the bug never happens. All of them are related to npcs combating and I found the bug once just watching some npc fight and not being involved. Again, it never happened if I start a clean game without Smilodon. I don't use smilodon, mortal enemies, or populated skyrim. I do use OBIS/patrols/loot, Immersive Patrols, more bandit camps and wildcat. I have tried various setups with combinations of only using combat overhauls (wildcat/calling of the conjurer, apocalypse, etc) alongside my heavy crafting additions (ars metallica, mods that add craftable armors and weapons) and so long as I remove just ONE type of category, I have a significantly harder time forcing the bug to appear. It only happens when all categories of mods are present, and that's sort of why I came to the conclusion that it was just the engine getting overloaded with too many different things at once. If I run my crafting mods with warzones, OBIS, patrols, bandit camps, lots of NPC overhauls, ect I have no issue. Same if I run just combat overhauls with NPCs overhauls and no crafting additions. If I run 2 of the 3, I have yet to be able to actually force the bug to happen. As soon as I add all the 3rd category back, I have issues again. This could also be tied with ESP counts too though, because I have multiple ESPs per category. pekojuki
I been having this bug for a long time in my old 200h save. Don't know if this relates into the false save game corruption but I started new game couple days ago and the bug appeared as usual in the beginning though at the 20-30h into the save the saves started saying it was corrupt when I loaded it the first time but after I load it the second time it works like normal and I've yet to have the usual false corruption happen in these saves. Also this never happened in my old 200h save.
