OK so the last few days i have been playing with SKSE64 and SkyUI5. as soon as i launched my game i had 13 MCM menues register with skse from mods offically ported to SE months ago before skse was out. i have also played for 2 hours tonight and have not had the bug appear.

This makes me think that any mod ported over to SE that did not remove skse scripts are the ones that are causeing the bug. say a script that is 95% vanilla but uses a skse variable but obviously that wouldn't work in vanilla so the script fails and that ends up messing up the script engine. this seems like a logical explination to me

Can some one else try running SKSE64 and see if they get the same results.

I plan on playing a long 6 hour session later tonight so i will let you know if the bug appears in those 6 hours. Fingers crossed it doesn't.

I made a post about this a few pages back and found that SKSE64 does not fix the bug.

I don't know what to say but i have now played for 5 hours straight with out the bug showing up. I could be getting lucky but i doubt it. I'm currently 187 hours in to this playthrough and the bug has been there from the start and the longest i ever got before it showed up was an hour.

since i installed skse I've not had the bug show up in a 2 hour and 5 hour sessions. so what ever was causing the bug for me skse seems to have solved.

Welp last night I installed SKSE and SkyUI and 15 mods all activated so I have 15 mods installed that have SKSE scripts. According to some posting saying that SKSE solved the problem for them I think they are getting a false positive. For it's still there and I went straight for the smithy and I deliberately scrolled through every tab trying to make the image that represents what you are crafting change as quickly as possible and the BUG is still there. If you have this bug showing up at all most you likely you are going to be saddled with regardless of your hardware or mods. The problem for and the reason for my conclusions about this bug is that I have very few armour and weapon mods that require crafting at the moment ... I'm thinking that it is a Game Engine level bug due said engines age ...

Okay, so I doubt it is connected to the save corruption bug, it might be, but my game has started crashing when I open the map.

It started after the latest patch. The creation club one. And it seems to only trigger after I have entered or exited a building. I can open the map safely straight after loading the game, but not after entering or exiting a building/dungeon.

I tried undoing all other changes I made besides the patch, no fix.

Anyone else?

I believe I mimicked said post to confirm SKSE was not the fix.

It's SSE Fixes - something doesn't work with the new update. You can go to Data\DLLPlugins\FPSFixPlugin.ini and set ReplaceFormMap to 0. Technically, it nearly disables the mod, but should stop the crashes.

Ok so he's right SKSE dosent stop the bug. it reappered after a long crafting session. however i have seen a dramatic increase in the time before the bug appears. I don't know if this increase is due to skse or skyui 5 as i installed them both at the same time. I'm now at a point where my game is playable for 5+ hours aslong as i don't spend too long in the crafting window.

Thanks, that did it.

Hmmmmm, interesting find after all these bloody months and perhaps it was staring me right in the bleeding face all along. I did not apparently have a Data/Strings folder at all even after multiple game verifications through Steam, the folder was completely missing and wasn't being downloaded at all! Don't know why, don't understand it all! :ermm:

So what was threw me onto this was in my main menu the Mod Manager tab and the new Creation Club tab had a $ sign infront of them, I looked at my Translate_English.txt and all looked fine in there, apparently sometimes this can get messed up (if two $ signs appear infront of any the values here can cause this bug and deleting one of the signs gets rid of it). In an old 2012 Oldrim post about this bug it also mentioned deleting the Interface and Strings folders and re-verifiying the game cache via Steam. So I looked and thought to myself, "Houl on here am I missing a Strings folder?"

After re-verifying my game cache twice I can confirm that it wasn't downloading at all, so I then went on a hunt for a mod that added localised strings, for me living in Ireland that would be localised UK english strings. So I have installed and am starting a new game to see what happens. Also, that cured the $ sign bug in my main menu ... Will keep you all posted!
