Gilibran
Ok so i got bored of Skyrim after 250+ hours. No construction set yet for modders to work their magic with. So i needed something else to do. I popped into the steam shop and there was a add for FO New Vegas. I read about it here on nexus and knew there were mods for it so i bought it with most of the DLC. Played it vannilla for an hour, got bored  again and dived into the modfiles Now at first i did not know if it was due to the mods or that i just did not play it long enough before it turned unplayable. Crashes, freezes, stuttering textures gone after coming from interior cells etc. etc. I quickly found out it was not the mods but the game itself. I was not alone and did not do anything wrong. Tonight 2 weeks later, 5 fresh installs further, i have finnaly for the first time played New vegas with a absolute minimum of "lag" "stutter" and no crashes at all for 5 hours. :psyduck: Here is what i did: Programs needed: CCleanerDriver DetectiveIobit Game booster Uninstall New Vegas and delete any left behind folders including installed mod folders Defrag and clean your registry (CCleaner & Gamebooster has a defrag option as well) Get all the latest drivers for your hardware (driver detective) Reinstall New Vegas and make sure it has all the latest patches. Before thinking about mods get: 4GB awareness NVSE compatibleNVSEFOMMDL9dx9d9.dll All of them are on the Nexus or linked to from here Install FOMM, NVSE, 4GB & drop the dx9d9.dll in the right folders as described in the readme's Find your .INI files and back them up There are 2 INI files you need to back up: One is in the same folder as New vegas is. (Fallout_default.ini) The other is located commonly in your "My games" folder same path as your savegames are. (Fallout.INI)(there can be 2 in the last folder ie. Fallout.ini or FalloutPrefs.ini. Get the first one Fallout.ini) ATI users go to the ATI homepage there is a HOTfix for stutter and lag problems (AMD Catalyst 10.10c Hotfix ) NVIDIA users go to your NVIDIA configuration:My Computer -> Control Panel -> NVIDIA Control Panel and look under “Manage 3D Settings" Change Power management mode from "Adaptive" to "Max performance" Find your .INI files again and apply the following changes*: *Make sure they are not "read only" first. The INI file located in "My Games" (Fallout.INI) Find the line: bUseThreadedAI=0 change it to: bUseThreadedAI=1 Add another line bellow it and insert: iNumHWThreads=2 Then find and change: iFPSClamp=0 TO iFPSClamp=60 Apply the same changes (Exept for the iFPSClamp=0 to iFPSClamp=60) to the .INI file in your Fallout default folder (Fallout_default.ini) (for later, if your game still does not work: change NumHWThreads=2 to NumHWThreads=1 in both .INI files) If you are on Steam TURN IT OFF AND PLAY IN OFFLINE MODE (The achievments updater can cause crashes) Run CCleaner each time after or before you start playing Last thing if you are not running XP. Set everything to run in XP compatibilty & run as admin NVSE4GBFALLOUT.exe The above works for me on my PC with the following settings: Widescreen1980x1080Antialiasing 4 samplesAnistropic filtering 8 samplesHigh detailVertical syncScreen effects: HDR only PC specs: Out of the box Packard bell Ipower vg300Nvidia 250GTS4GB ramIntel 2quad 8300 2.5 ghz (It ran Skyrim on Ultra high, faultless with the 4GB aware and high rez texture mods before Beth fixed it themselves) running close to 80 mods on New Vegas now, mostly clothes, weapons & armors but also, imho, some "heavy"mods without a problem: WillowUNHV bunkerDesperado houseShilo dessert succubusSexy BillboardsRobert's maleLings coiffureThe medium MHC texture packBeware of girl type 3 high rezSexual innuendoWasteland sex moduleAnimated prostitution(the last 3 despite causing some conflicts with others/each other ;) but still... ) Ok, of to the Mojave again, i hope this will help some of you to enjoy this game. I wont give support, i probably have done a few things which are not neccesary, but i will be corrected by others and update this post, It works for me this way, so i figure anyone with a similar setup can run & enjoy this game to.
