Rennn
The title pretty much says it all. How do I create an esm file instead of an esp?
PrettyMurky
If you want to do that, or indeed anything mod-wise in Oblivion; you need Construction Set Extender.
Rennn
I see... thanks. After looking back though, Skyrim gets me much smoother framerates than Oblivion on maxed settings. That is a surprise. I may wait for the Skyrim Construction Set and spend the spare time practicing in Blender, rather than making a large mod for Oblivion. Thanks for the information, all the same. kingtitan
I use this. I think it is pretty easy to use and it is helpful in other ways too beyond just converting an .esp to .esm! And the best part, it is extremely simple to use!
David Brasher
I would vote for TES4Gecko rather than Construction Set Extender. A new modder can introduce some troublesome bugs by using Construction Set Extender instead of the CS, Wrye Bash and TES4Gecko. I guess it depends on what you are doing with the software. The problem the modding team I was on had was bogus masters. Construction Set Extender would hook up all kinds of unwanted and unneeded .esp masters to an .esp making merging into a nightmare. And to fix the problem, we had to go back to TES4Gecko after using Construction Set Extender. So there was no escape from TES4Gecko and the shortcut didn't end up being much of a shortcut. I was a bit annoyed by the commented out gibberish tags Construction Set Extender adds to scripts. They seemed to be harmless, although they were junky, but I can imagine one scenario in which they would ruin the scripts and prevent them from compiling. So Construction Set Extender has some powerful and useful features, but it can be dangerous, and should be used with careful thought, just like any other software.
