Tal0sHunter
Hello, Nexus!I'm not sure if this is the place to put this, so if it isn't then my apologies. Anyways, I'm having a problem and I would like to know if I'm the only one who's having it, or if there's any way to fix it. Whenever someone links to a certain mod or page for the Nexus ( Example: if someone posts a mod and in the description for it, it says that it requires a different mod, and then links to that different mod ), I'm not able to follow that link completely; it just takes me to the home page for the nexus. This problem really is more of a problem than I originally thought it would be, and it's only getting worse. If anyone at all can help, it would be much appreciated! DrakeTheDragon
You're likely speaking of old, outdated links here. The descriptions, or any post or other text, weren't automatically updated when the site last changed its url structure. Now you got multiple cases of old links still being posted but not all old structures are kept functional by f.e. internal redirect systems or the like. What links are those you're talking of? Can you give some examples?
Tal0sHunter
DrakeI am mainly referring to NSFW mods, and this is also Oblivion that we're talking about so you have a point about them being outdated. One specific example is " ATROPA " by Kendo 2. On that page, in the requirements section is a list of a few things and some links below them. When I try and follow the links, it just takes me to the home page. On the ATROPA page, however, there is no hyperlink as is what I usually see on the pages; I don't think that makes a difference though, because whether or not it is a hyperlink, I still can't get to it. DrakeTheDragon
Ah, yes, those are really ancient ones indeed. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=<file-id> While the domain "tesnexus.com" still exists and redirects to "nexusmods.com", it can't likewise redirect to the specific game's site and the according file page directly, because as you might know the TES Nexus site was split into two, Morrowind Nexus and Oblivion Nexus, and they both have their own, ambiguous, file ids. But they can in most cases easily be rewritten into the proper structure, provided you know the game the mod is for and the file-id is still valid. http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/<file-id> The urls from the ATROPA description for example still work that way. And I have to say it again, there is no easy way for the site to fix this on its end. Many file-ids exist on the Morrowind site as well but for different mods, and you can't successfully guess the game from "tesnexus.com" alone. Even if there was another automatic url rewrite in place leading them all to the Oblivion site, it would still be hit&miss when it's not to an Oblivion mod. Tal0sHunter
Although I'm confused a bit, I do understand the general message you're sending haha. Thank you for the help.
DrakeTheDragon
The important part is also only that you can easily fix those urls yourself following the simple scheme I posted above. I hope it's a little easier to understand now that I also turned those silly links into codes again. I wanted you to see the whole urls and typed them in as text specifically. Sadly the forums changed them into abbreviated links on posting, so they were no longer readable the way I wanted them to. With those code blocks around them now this problem should be no more.
