Can someone explain to me what the situation in Tamriel really is at the moment? Because I can't really find a good source. So the Aldmeri Dominion has Summerset Isle, Valenwood and Elsweyr, the Argonians have Black Marsh and Morrowind, the Empire consists out of Cyrodiil and Skyrim, and Hammerfell is independent? Or is Elsweyr still a part of the Empire, and have the Argonians left Morrowind for what it is after their conquer? Me is confused. :)

Thanks in advance.

Alright...........so during the prelude of the great war the thalmor take control of the summerset isles(high elves). They overthrow the imperial backed government of Valenwood (wood elves) forming the aldemeri dominion. They also claim they brought back the sacred moon of the khajit so the khajit procliamed them as saviours leading to eleswyr joining the aldemeri dominion willingly. Meanwhile morrowind(dark elves) is severly weakened by a volcano erupting.Black Marsh(argonians) took advantage of this and invaded taking control of morrowind. The great war happens leading to the empire splitting up.Hammerfell(red guard) leaves the empire. Skyrim(nords) may or may not become independent deppending on the dragonborns actions. High rock (breton) and Cyrodil (imperials) accept the white gold concordat and effectively become a puppet state for the aldemeri dominion. Edited by terzho

Currently, the Empire occupies the following territories;

Highrock

Morrowind (most of it)

Cyrodiil

Skyrim

The Dominion occupies;

Summerset (Renamed Aldmeris)

Valenwood

Elsweyr (As 2 territories, whose names i can't recall at 7am)

Independant are;

Hammerfell

Blackmarsh (which controls some of southren Morrowind)

Following the Oblivion Crisis, pretty much every province save for Skyrim and Morrowind succeeded from the Empire. Even several city-states in Cyrodiil did. Everything but Summerset, Valenwood and Blackmarsh were brought back into the fold by Titus Mede I. Morrowind suffered the Red Year (erruptions of Red Mountain) in about 4E20. When the Moons dissapeared for 2 years, the Khajit paniced, and when the Thalmor claimed to have brought them back (I personally think they were totally uninvolved and just jumped at the chance to look impressive) Elsweyr joined the Domminion.

And at risk of causing ANOTHER Empire/Stormcloak arguement, i'd recomend not making qualifying judgements like "The Empire is a puppet of the Thalmor". Information is incomplete and contradictory, and any claims one way or another is purely opinion.

Thanks.

Yeah, I knew about all the events in the 4th Era, but it was a bit unclear what the status was after them.

And the Empire certainly is no puppet of the Thalmor. I understand they were both pretty much forced by the circumstances to sign the White-Gold Concordat. The Thalmor are just so naive to think they are the dominant ones.
