Better Doors and Cabinets

I was sitting at work drawing up some Kitchen, for few customers. It 3d cabinet, i have to build new cabinet or texture the old ones. When I thought it would be rather, nice to have some my cabinets in the game. Add a little more realism to oblivion homes. Just thing it would be nice in my Skindgard home to have nice kitchen. You think paying 25,000, it would come sort of kitchen instead of just table. I would also like to try to put in nice front doors. Maybe because I deal with day in day out, it my job. I notice such thing, it my job doors, cabinets and windows. Oblivion doors just look so general, you think that both cabinets and doors would be important.

What would take to New meshes and textures?

Nice looking doors.

You will need a program like Gimp or photoshop with a .dds addon to get the textures. 3d modeling program like Nifscope or Blender is needed for the meshes. Then you need to learn the construction set to be able to add or change anything in the game - Recommend learn the CS first. Then texturing using existing textures in game (using CS) then adding some new textures using Gimp - its free, photoshop is not. finally meshes using the free 3d program Blender which has a very good tutorial.

Maybe you could just make a retexture of an existing door to start. Practice in the CS with existing textures (.dds files) then use Gimp or Photoshop to create your own texture.

The basic process to get something completely new into the game is to make a 3d model, save it as a .nif file. cover the model with a surface texture (color and pattern) in .dds and _n.dds format. then export both of the .dds files and the .nif into the CS. then using the CS place your new object into the game with a path showing the game where to find all of your new .dds and .nif files.

If you think that sounds complicated, wait till you try it. Expect to spend a lot of time and frustration if you really want to be a 3d moddler for Oblivion. However, its great when you see something you made being used by other gamers.
