The human eye makes adjustments that would never resemble DOF without cinematic effects. Take a walk and see how many lens flares you encounter.

Look at your monitor, and see if anything behind is in focus.What do you expect from a simulated 3D environment? Use reshade.. turn the sharpness up on your monitor, whatever works. Myself with SE, I can spot a rabbit 100 meters down the road. Couldn't tell you what coloureyes though.
