Skill Cap for Unique Builds

Hello All

I would like to make a request for a mod that forces the player to make a character build based off of choosing skill caps.

Example of my idea: Players must assign the 18 character skills into one of the categories below.

1 skill may reach level 100
2 skills are capped at level 90
3 skills are capped at level 70
3 skills are capped at level 50
3 skills are capped at level 30
6 skills are capped at level 15
I think this could be implemented as plainly as a popup menu where the player assigns the above skill caps, or it could be integrated in a more immersive way during character creation/beginning of the game.
Katixas did something similar for Oldrim.
I like this but would like the above skill caps to be enforced in someway.
Thank you for your consideration!

This would be really easy and maybe a fun thing for you to do yourself. Having six different categories would make it kind of obnoxious to implement, but it's your idea, so run with it.

I implemented a class system for Oldrim that had the player choose their major skills like in Oblivion and capped those skills at twice their character level and capped everything else at character level. There are balance concerns: not every skill is equally quick to level (smithing is huge pain in the ass, for example). It's also really annoying to expend a skill book's bonus point without actually getting anything for it because you're at the cap. But overall, I found it to be fun to play, and it did a nice job of creating a more focused concept.

The problem with the static caps that you suggest is they place a much lower limit on maximum level than can be found in vanilla. With your exact numbers, the maximum attainable level before one would have to start making a skill legendary would be 41. Furthermore, since only one skill can get to 100, one would only be able to make that single skill legendary.

This would not be fun.

I think whether its fun or not is pretty subjective. It would be fun for me. Maxing out at a lower level and only being able to master a single field, while coming close to mastering a couple others, seems more realistic to me. That may not translate to fun for everyone but it does for me.

I have never modded before, hence the request here in the forum. I will look into it thought if you believe it will be an easy one to do for a first timer. I will check out some guides, let me know if you have any resource suggestions. Thanks!

edit: grammar
