GregSJ
The shadow flicker in skyrim really annoys me. Somone mentioned that that shadow flicker it is caused by the light source that is the sun moves or adjusts itself every 5-10 seconds. That makes sense. Does anyone have an idea of how to smooth out the sun light sources animation so that the shadows do not go crazy every 5-10 seconds? Thanks! Lutine
Do you mean those lines that appear on buildings every so often?
GregSJ
Do you mean those lines that appear on buildings every so often? No. If you look down and watch any shadow created by thinner objects such as trees, shrubs, and or characters the shadows will flicker, dance, or shimmer. It happens every 5-10 seconds. It makes sense if the suns light source is moving at that 5-10 second interval. It seems like that shadow shimmer could be fixed by smoothing out the suns light source movement. I found two Skyrim.ini settings that adjust what I am talking about. [Display]fSunShadowUpdateTime=0.000 fSunUpdateThreshold=0.100 These are what I have it set to currently. Does anyone have any better changes to remove shadow flicker? The shadows annoy me so much I am even running... iBlurDeferredShadowMask=9 And I still cannot get them blurry enough so that the shadows do not pixelate and flicker. RuneKatashima
I have this same flicker for some water sources at times and distant mountains. I could not pinpoint WHAT was flickering on the mountain, I just knew something was (like a lot of ground) and it was easily noticeable.
