I have just started my 3rd Vault 88 and this time round I chose one of the options Valery liked so I got the option to keep her as Overseer. However, I have completed the Overseers office and moved the desk up there but she won't go up there (so far) and just stays unassigned in the Atrium. I can't manually assign her to it. Is there any way I can get her back to work ?

Can she reach the desk at all, as soon as you build it she should start moving towards it, If she needs an elevator for instance to reach the desk, NPC's cannot use them and she will probably remain where she is.

 

If you have a save from just after she asks you to build the overseer desk, load it and build the desk right next to her just to test if she uses it.

 

 

Try using the console:

 

select her so her ID is shown then type

 

Disable

 

close console, she will dissappear, open console again and type:

 

Enable

Hi , I completed all the experiments and kept her as Overseer before building the Overseer's office and quarters so reloading a save isn't really an option since I would lose too much work. She just stays where she was when I moved the desk. You're probably onto something about not being able to reach the desk because I slept in the bedroom attached to the office and Cait didn't "wake up next to me". Come to think of it though I tried assigning Valery to the other bed in the office bedroom but she didn't sleep there and one of the settlers slept there instead , so I know settlers can reach the office.

The panic is over! I shut the game down last night and I have just opened it again and there she is back at the desk in the office. It must have simply required a restart to sort her out.

Good to hear :-) a simple restart can do wonders, as for the savegame, no need to loose progress, you use it just to test if in an earlier save it does work, perhaps you have installed a mod afterwards that might have interferred. Just a method to pinpoint a problem.
