RealBigSwede Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I like to know if it is possably to atcivate the DirecX11 in the skyrim and if so where. and if it dose not have it Bath why not??
Thor. Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 (edited) If you look in the root of the Skyrim directory in the Directx 10 folder it has every dx package available. I have the feeling the Constuction kit will be able to use these packages. But if you want to use it, just extract one of the dll's of your choice in Skyrims folder. Location of the packages C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\DirectX10 Edited January 8, 2012 by Thor.
eltucu Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 (edited) Thats standart. Every Windows game that uses DirectX has to be bundled with it (and VC++ libraries too). And the microsoft distributable has all the libraries for DX9, DX10, and DX11. Never downloaded or installed the redistributable from any other game? Those that you see in the directory are the installation files, in fact, they're copied to the Windows folder once installed for the software to use them if needed. Skyrim its a DX9 game. I think you're mixing up the direct libraries with the shader packages of previous games.. Those files are libraries, not shaders.. Edited January 8, 2012 by eltucu

Exept that lil quote from todd that its around the interwebz, that turned out to be a lie. The same game specifies in the RendererInfo.txt that is targeting Pixel Shader 3.0 and Vertex Shader 3.0, both shader specifications of DirectX9, not 10 nor 11. There is that multi threading rendering setting that crashes the game so it seems that at least for a moment in development they tried to use it,,, BTW, both minimum and recommended configurations mention a DX9 compatible card only. Yeah, to summarize, Skyrim does not have DirectX11. The reason is because it was developed for consoles, not the PC, so it was designed for a 5+ year old computer, not a modern graphics card. Will Skyrim ever support DirectX10 or 11? Very, very unlikely.

I've tried it with my old ATI 5870 and a newer Geforce 8800GT. With the GT it supplies you with mist effects in most caves that aren't present with 5870. Under exactly the same settings. So something has to be different. But since I'm no expert I can't lay my finger on it.
RealBigSwede Posted January 8, 2012 Author Posted January 8, 2012 Man if this game was DX11 with full tessellation wow this would blow your mind.....BTW thanks guy for your posting very good ingormation, THANKS!
