Mereinid
Hey all, does the AFT mod or any other mod handle my followers movements. I am not talking about following distance. I am referring to when I am sneaking or walking in a dungeon and need to take my time. If I go around a corner and get out of their sight, they come charging around the corner or up the hall to me. Pushing me right out of the way, setting off traps, triggering trip lines letting NPC"s see them and or pushing me right off ledges. They often come flying up ahead of me going into rolls and pulling their weapons like they are in a horrible B-Rated movie and trying to make an entrance. I now have to watch for them from behind and mobs from the front. And don't get me started on how many times I fill them with arrows as they seem to know I am shooting and jump right into my path. Kind of like NPC"s from a distance know I am going to shoot and dimension door out of the way of the arrow.. It's really really gotten worse as of late. I am level 32 and I am seriously considering starting over and never taking a follower again. I have the option to order them to leave me or stay put but then that pretty much defeats the purpose of having a follower all together. Any suggestions? Wrapien
I have the same problem. I also hate it when they stand right in front of you in the middle of the doorway blocking you and have the gall to say "I am right behind you"... At least AFT has an action "Get behind me". cdcooley
I find that increasing their speed decreases the problem. The console command "modav speedmult 20" on most followers improves their ability to follow and when they don't fall as far behind the don't come running up to you that way. Changes to speedmult made with "setav" won't survive a game reload so you need to use "modav" to adjust it. You can also use negative values so if 20 made them to fast use -5 and lower it or if they are still to slow add another 5. With a little experimentation you'll find the speed that works best for you. The "getav speedmult" command will show the current value. I like things between 120 and 130 for most characters but it also depends on just how fast my character can run (high elves move faster than bretons). You can use "Get behind me," or you can also unsheath your weapon, while you're right up against them. They'll instantly disappear behind you, and you won't have to go through the dialog. Mereinid Go through dialog > tweak > settings > NPC keeps distance. It's not 100% perfect, but it helps a lot. Notable issue is if they're set to "catch up" when you draw your weapon, they will still collide sometimes. This is so, if they're too far back to defend you when a fight starts, they will instantly appear with you when you draw your weapon. You might turn that off, and "keeps distance" on. See how it works for you. If you start having fights without backup, then turn it back on and just expect a little bump on draw.
