sillatjie
I would like to use the rebalanced version of Armor of the Sten so that it's not overpowered, but I need to install it manually. (I'm playing on a Mac with the Windows Steam version in a Wineskin wrapper, and I can't use the console or get any of the installation apps to work - not even the ones made for Mac like Modazipin or DAModWrangler, no idea why.) I know how to manually install .dazips and have done it successfully a few times already, and I've already installed the original mod which is required for this to work. But the rebalanced version doesn't have the same type of file structure. It contains the following 3 files: sten_armor.utiprcscr_stenarmor.gdalot100cr_bandit_camp_leader.utc I have no idea where to put them, and the installation instructions in the description only say "Installation can be done with NMM", which of course I can't use. Does anyone know how I can install this mod manually? Thanks!
theskymoves
For manual override mods (such as the Armor of the Sten - Rebalanced), simply extract the files from the compressed archive and then add those files to the game's override folder. (On a Windows machine, that's \Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override\.) It is good practice to have manual override mods each inside their own folder... keeps everything organized and makes it easier to remove mods that are not wanted and diagnose conflicts. sillatjie
Ah, thank you! I've already put quite a few things in there, but I didn't realize it would be ok to put this in there too. How can I tell when something is a manual override mod? Is it just anything that isn't in a .dazip file?
Thandal
@sillatjie; Just read the mod's Description for the installation instructions. If the mod can be placed directly in the "\override" folder, it will say so. If not, it will provide additional information.
sillatjie
@Thandal I always read the installation instructions. I was asking specifically because this mod didn't mention anything about the override folder, so I wanted to know for future reference how to tell where something must go if it doesn't have installation instructions (other than to use software that isn't compatible with my system). Thandal
Yep, I see now that the author did not provide any installation instructions beyond "can use the NMM".Careless of him...
