Anton Ehn
Once you download the mods, extract the .zip, .rar or .7z file into your oblivion data directory, usually /C/Programs/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/Data... Then make sure all files cme into the right folders, Meshes in meshes, textures in textures and such. Sometimes that is done by itself. Then launch the game. The launcher starts up, press "Data Files", then you should see the Oblivion.esm and Oblivion.esp files, aswell the file you downloaded, place a check in the little "box", press Ok and Start the game. the mod should work if you did everything right  / Anton Ehn
Schauble
So, do i put the "all Shapes And Sizes" into one of the ready made folders? or do i get the 7-zip folder to put into the data file? i'm slowly getting it  but i'm still not getting it to show up in the launch data boxes.. NewtC
The mod file itself just goes in the datafiles folder. It does not work if it's in a 7-zip folder.

bben46
Rar and 7zip files are file compression files. they are used to compact a file to make it smaller. To use them you must have them installed on your compute and have them set to be the default program to open zipped files. 7zip is the best one. QinRar sometimes put the files in the wrong folders when they are unzipped. Have you installed 7zip? and have you selected it as the file to open all zipped type files? When you click on the zipped file (filename.7z or filename.RAR) it will open a window allowing you to select the files you want to unzip and where you want to put it. Oblivion\Data for Mod files. Get 7-zip here http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15579 read the instructions before trying to use it. When you unzip a file properly you should have a file placed in your data folder something like YourNewMod.espThe mods are now in .esp format which is what Oblivion needs to recognize them. Now, you must activate the mod in the game . to do this - when you start the game, instead of selecting PLAY, select DATA and you will be sent to a screen that allows you to select mods to be used in the game. A simple mod will usually only have an .esp file more complex mods will have other files that must be put in the proper subdirectories to work.
