Najene
I want to clean up my Oblivion game for the new year. So I am looking for advice on the best tools to clean up my mods. When I installed the game a few years ago I was only planning to have a small handful of mods, some hair, some clothes and some nice bows. Well 50+ mods later its kinda getting crowded. I don't have OBMM or Boss installed and was wondering how useful they would be.Here's what i had in mind:-Merge assorted clothing and armor mods. There are no conflicts they're just small tweaks taking up space.-Figure out the install order of my hair mods some don't work when the other is installed. -Save my characters face so I can use it in another game. I have no Idea how to do this.-Move a coupla mod locations that are going to conflict with AFK Weye. I looked in the CS and don't see them in the regions or cells. They must be there somewhere!-Cobl and OBSE are working fine.-I was hoping to install Immersive Lighting and Windows but it seems complicated and I don't know if I should do that first before adding my few dozen mods back to the game. Suggestions are welcome.
Harvald
Hi friend merging assorted clothes and weapons is no problem. I did it successfully myself and I'm a modding noob. Load all clohing without those using break undies, or vipjx highheels or other additional mods in TCS, go to combine loaded plugins, save under a new name "merged clothes" Done. Then retract all esp of the merged clothes from oblivion data drektory and backup. Have fun Harvald
Balakirev
The best tool for moving mods around in your loading order (as well as saving a character's face) is Wrye Bash. It also has a ton of additional functionality. It allows you to see at a glance if a master is missing or out of order according to its dependencies, adjust a saved game to conform with your current mod list, create easy mod installation/deinstallations, look for (and repair) excessive saved game bloat, etc. It also allows you to build a patch with dozens of tweaks you can make to the game--such as whether to show jewelry on characters, to the fines for a specific crime, to the number of NPCs whose AI will be active in a fairly large combat zone. Najene
I'll investigate Wrye Bash. I've heard of this before. I probably have enough mods now to make it worthwhile. thanks all for the suggestions so far.
kingtitan
OBMM is not a bad program to have, although I too suggest using Wrye Bash. Will make your life LOADS easier. Also, you may want to look in to TES4Edit / TES4Gecko. Can't remember which one I use but a very helpful and powerful program. As for merging, as Harvald aluded to, use the CS :) Generally harmless, successful, and simple.

Nephenee13
I would only suggest using OBMM for things that absolutely REQUIRE it, which is very few mods at this point. Learning how to properly use Wrye Bash, and its BAIN installers, will make your life much easier in the long run.

Wrye is much more "capable" than OBMM, and as Nephenee said, only a few mods actually require obmm. The good news about that however is that the two can work together without giving you any problems. It's just that wrye is undoubtedly the best "all-around" program.
Balakirev
Should I use OBMM and Wrye Bash together or just the Bash program? My own setup utilizes Wrye Bash for everything except installation. I know that WB's sophisticated BAIN system does de/installations, but I've never been able to get it to work properly. Some users swear by it, others swear at it. For more sophisticated installations that require a lot of choices, I'll often use OBMM and its OMODs; otherwise, I'll do things manually.
