HaaryGBD
Hey everyone - my Dragonborn is suuuper into alchemy, and although there are a fair few gardens available on Nexus (not many, but *some* at least) what I really want is a greenhouse. I guess it would count as a player home but designed solely for growing plants and alchemy ingredients, rather than as a place of residence. I'm no modder, so I don't know how realistic I'm being, but I was picturing a sort of Kew Botanical Gardens or Horniman Greenhouse for Skyrim. Like, some sexy outside garden section (if the location was right) with the greenhouse as the mic drop at the centre (like, emotionally, not necessarily physically). The Eden Project, a botanical garden in Cornwall, has separate rooms to replicate different climates - maybe it could be a good idea to separate fungi and water plants from tundra, rift and reach? There's also a mod that allows you to grow any plants in any containers. Compatibility with that would be amazing.(http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/26851/?) And most importantly, were I to do this myself (which, oh my god, where do you start to learn about modding?) aesthetics would TOTALLY take priority over function - like it should be fun to walk through - none of that neat lines of planters all ordered and robotic and symmetrical. That would be miserable. What do you think? Is there a reason something like this hasn't been done yet? Is it possible?Gargh. halp. pls halp. farce88
i could imagine some sort of large open cave system(i like caves) with different parts for different plants, with partially open ceiling for sunshine to come in..i dont know about vanilla ressources with really transparent glass windows but there is one mod http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2502/?with transparent windows, maybe its allowed to use the ressources.. dont know.i like the idea and i am somewhat thinking if i could integrate this into something i made.. HaaryGBD
Yeah - I thought glass might pose a problem, but if you give people a problem, they tend to think around it eventually, so I figured ... meh. Go for it. YYYYYEAH subterranean biomes!? Sounds like Blackreach could be a good location! Obviously, it's very different to the Victorian English-ey sort of thing I originally thought of, but it's much more lore friendly! Sunlight is a good idea, but if I was trying to create an alchemy plant-library underground, I'd probably wind up bolstering it with some artificial light source(s) too, right? HaaryGBD
I'm just gonna put up some photos of the Eden Project's biomes, 'cause it's really near where I live, and it'll keep the thread current, maybe? Hopefully?
