Leilana Romance Question

Hi all. Starting a separate thread for this because I need help from someone who did NOT install my Fixpack (or any other mod that affects Leilana's dialogue) and who has a save game where they have a romance with Leilana.

I need to know if, under these conditions: 1) Mods to Leilana's dialogue are NOT installed, which includes my fixpack, and 2) You are in a romance with Leliana and she is "In Love": When you first talk to her anywhere (I recommend checking at camp), does she ever start a conversation with "Well, aren't you sweet and attentive?"

The way I'm reading the files in the toolset, it should never get there. The best she will ever say is "I'm here for you". But the "sweet and attentive" line sounds familiar from 5 year old previous game sessions, so I'm hoping someone can confirm.

If you do confirm that she never says the "sweet and attentive" line, then, in fact, Leliana cannot truly fall in love with you in the base game (or at least, you never see the dialogue you were meant to), and this would lead to a great restoration. I could easily be wrong though.

As I recall from my many, many playthroughs, there is a known bug with Leli's Romance in that it's possible to advance things to "In_Love" before receiving/completing her PQ. If that happens you'll get, "Well, aren't you sweet and attentive?" but never advance to an invitation to share her tent.

That sort of tracks with what I'm seeing, except for the part about seeing that sweet and attentive line.... because it is under that sweet and attentive line that you get the option to share her tent. And from what I'm seeing, the condition to get the sweet and attentive line can never be met because the flag has no code behind it (there's a comment in the script that says the flag is "not used", but it's actually used in several places in the dialog file).

And yes, you can initiate a romance with Leilana before finishing her personal quest. At first I thought that might be a bug too, but turns out it's the same with Morrigan.

Still investigating. If there's code that prevents you from reaching "love" with the other interests prior to finishing their PQ, I'm not seeing it yet.

Ok, I misunderstood what you were saying (or rather, how the game was supposed to work. I get that you weren't saying that you couldn't initiate romance till the PQ, just to get to "love". I have now found where friendly/love eligible gets set at the end of Alistair, Morrigan and Leliana's PQ's. I'm now hunting to see if I can find anywhere where it gets set for Leliana too early.

And I may have been wrong about that flag not being used. I could swear I saw that code before, but for the life of me I can't find it now.

This is really disturbing...

In the leilana dialogue file that I'm looking at now, from the Ultimate edition, the ENTIRE "I lied to you about Orlais, you know" sequence that you get after initially talking to her about spies in Orlais... it's been commented out. It literally says "No longer used", and as far as I can tell there's no way to reach it. That's in her vanilla file in Ultimate Edition as it stands right now. I *don't* remember that being the case in version 1.03, and sadly I can't confirm it as I no longer have the v1.03 leilana dialogue. If it's been replaced by something else, I can't find it. And that dialogue triggers the entire Leilana personal quest. None of this has anything to do with my Fixpack.

And yet, you'd think if there was no way to trigger that conversation anymore, someone would have realized that that bug exists in v1.04 outside of the context of my fixpack.

I'm at Lothering now, so I'm going to focus on trying to get her to have that conversation.

I PM'd back :)

And never mind on my last post. I found where that dialogue is now, it's in party_camp.dlg.

I don't recall if that's the way it *used* to be... if it was changed in 1.04, that might certainly explain why my Fixpack and v1.04 collided.

That tree is also in party_camp.dlg, and not commented out there.

theskymoves: Lol, thanks! As you can see above, I figured that out about 10 seconds before you posted, lol, but I could sooo easily have missed it, so glad to know someone is still familiar with this stuff  I suspect you will have the power to save me some serious time before this is all over

Do you happen to know if it was always there, or was that something introduced in 1.04? (I ask because a subset of people seem to believe that my Fixpack "broke" the Leilana romance - or maybe her personal quest, I've yet to find a *detailed* bug report - and I still haven't found anything I've done that could've caused that.)

One new fix I hope to be adding in v3, though, if I can pull it off, is to make it so that raising Leilana's approval too quickly doesn't lock you out of starting her quest. Wish me luck on that one!
