dragaloa
First of all, I don't know much anything about modding. So there might be something, what I haven't realized that is hard/impossible to do. Just for you to know. So, there are lots of mods coming that I'm really looking into. But when I have been searching and browsing mods, I was dissapointed. Most mods added new items, improved graphics, fixed things. All of that is needed and useful, of course. But where are quest based mods? For yet I haven't found anything. Of course everything will be much easier when CK comes, but I haven't even found any plans of making quest based mods. What is in my mind, is huge, plot based quest chain giving the player multiple choices and outcomes, more or less critical to other people of Skyrim. For yet I'm not sure, what quest would be based to, since I'm not sure what modders can and would be willing to do. I give you few examples what I got in my mind. One very impressive one would be other side in main quest, where you could help Alduin and other dragons to rule over Skyrim by doing atleast such jobs that dragons can't do, going to places where dragons can't go mostly, like dungeons. I guess that would require very hard work to do, but I think it could be worth it. Another is a secret faction which has infuences over all factions of Skyrim, companions, college, such. Whole thing would start when you would have affected atleast 2 factions to some point, so that the secret faction would be interested in you and your doings, and send you a letter to meet in certain place, and questchain would begin from there. There is a few ideas for example, give me your opinions. I just want to see good quest based mod, no need to base on ideas I listed above, they are for example. Even if the theme of quests is now unclear, the main thing would be to give players multiple ways to do these quests, and so chances to afflict different things, based on how you did those quests. Even if I don't have experience on mods, I would be willing to plan plot, characters, that kind of stuff, if any of you get interested in doing quest based mod
JanusForbeare
Quest mods take longer to plan, script, and build than any other variety. As a result, those people who are working on them are likely not far enough along yet to warrant an announcement (that's my situation; I don't want to commit to anything on the forums before the mod I'm working on is well on the way to being done). You can rest assured that enough of us are working on quests (or 'questlike' mods, ie. companions/gameplay changes) to guarantee you plenty of new content over the next year. That being said, once the CK comes out, you should consider trying it out yourself. A lot of the people who post here are quick to point out that they're not modders, which is a shame. The CKs tend to be idiot-proof; I'm by no means a coder or programmer, and I taught myself how to use the main functions within a week or two. Coding is trickier, but the internet always has the answers - and if your concept is solid, odds are you can entice other modders to pitch in and help out. Both the ideas you've pitched are well-thought out and could potentially fit in with TES lore. I strongly suggest you choose one and develop it further. If you're looking to learn a bit more about what's possible using the CK and you have one of the other TES games (or FO3/NV), you ought to download the Construction Set (or GECK) for one of those games. Many of the elements will be the same.
dragaloa
Thank you for support towards my example ideas :)! If it is as simple as you say it is, I might give it a try, when CK comes out. It would be refreshing to do something new kind of "art", and a mod would be quite different from anything I have ever done. Still, I think I would like better to just plan the plot and such, I'm trying to keep out of being too much on computer atm, too many hours of skyrim since I got it on christmas... I think I just look for other replies to this post right now, before making any kind of decisions.
