Looking to create a major fallout 3 overhaul need some help and ideas

Im still pretty new to modding still learning many things but i catch on pretty quick . Anyways i was watching a movie that i felt would make a very good idea for a game and i thought using fallout 3 it would probably be possible to create it . The basic idea that i am going for is 1. a much more realistic approach to gameplay and the environment 2. removing major cities enemies and many npcs 3.having a zombie or vampire like main creature with possible an infection system allowing npc characters to turn . The reason for me removing other enemies and npc characters is all to go towards realism and im hoping to make most of the wasteland a very dangerous place with almost no survivors of the infection and putting small bands of npc characters together which lead to companions , relation ships , and quests . I would like to include many many quests and possibly increase the size of the wasteland but as i said im still pretty new to modding , creating texures and meshes , and scripting . So im looking for ideas where would be a good place to start i would love some tips on what i need to do or what i may need to do this . Will i need fallout script extender and can i do all of these things inside geck ? Please respond ASAP as im hoping to start even possibly today even if its just a small change at a time i could really use help on this . Thanks !

First of all, i would like to say that although i am new to modding as well, i would love to help you out with this. Sounds really cool!

Anyway on to your questions: FOSE basically allows extra commands for scripting in the GECK to work in the game. You can find a complete list of theall commands it supportswas on the GECK wiki. That being said, it would depend on what exactly you want to do in your addon to determine whether you need FOSE. If you need to use a FOSE scripting command, then you need to have it.

The whole design element can be done in the GECK, however to create custom textures you will need a image editor ie photoshop. Custom meshes require the use of a 3d model software I.E Blender and you will need Nifskope to convert it into a FO readable file.

Anyone else, please correct me if i said anything wrong.
