Underwater Exploration

Did some exploring underwater in lakes and oceans as well, and there is a ton of stuff in the water, but be careful what you take as I ran across a quest for an item that was in the water but I had already found the item, taken it and sold it. Now the quest is in my journal and won't go away as I can't complete it and I can't make it go away.

 

I suppose its the thieves guild quest? Than its an optional anyway and would go away when you advance it. Otherwise the vendor you should it to might still have it. I think they never sell special stuff to anyone else.

Appreciate the advice - but this isn't my first TES game;

 

Using setstage doesn't clear the quest or the journal entry. I think the wiki has the wrong quest name and sqt doesn't identify a quest name.

The item isn't in the inventory of the NPC in the store I sold it to.

Additem just results in identifying the item is not recognized.

The testing hall item doesn't work to clear the quest as the NPC doesn't recognize the item even though I have it in my inventory.

 

I have three journal entries that won't clear from the journal - this item quest, the "Visit the College of Winterhold" journal entry - I've completed the Mage Guild questline and been to Winterhold numerous times and spoke to everyone - and a letter delivery to the Temple of Kynareth in Whiterun - even though she took the letter and I finished the additional questline that results.

 

Simply, Skyrim has bugs and glitches that even console doesn't fix and doing something unexpected in the game is going to cause problems - hopefully minor, but could be major. Once the CK is out, fixing this stuff will be easier.
